They'd trade down, at least, and I know how much you love that.

Not in top 32 for HOCKEY PROSPECT

Top 6 pick anyone? :sarcasm:
Just a reminder that at this point of the year, Wright was ranked 1st on any of those lists.

Why are we sure that we would not draft Michkov?

If we miss on the lottery and pick 6-8 and he is there its a no brainer imo. He has superstar potential and he is one of those rare prospects who will move the team forward.

It's a theory but Hughes never dispelled it and they didn't take any Russians, so you tell me.

In the 2022 draft? Which Russian was available and more interesting than the player we got at our spot tho?

Trikozov is no Michkov !

My top 20 at that point (for whats worth):

1-Bedard
2-Carlsson
3-Michkov
4-Fantilli
5-Reinbacher
6-Dvorsky
7-Brindley
8-Leonard
9-Moore
10-Benson
11-Smith
12-Barlow
13-Salé
14-Pellikka
15-Ritchie
16-Perreault
17-Honzek
18-Strbak
19-Yager
20-Cristall
21-Heidt
22-Danielson

I havent watched any of the Russians since I dont really believe we will go there. Well, I saw a bit of Danill But earlier in the season and while he has that attractive huge frame coming with some sicks hands, I found him extremmely raw, both defensively and without the puck, didnt seem to work well in tight and didnt use his frame effectively, so I kinda wrote him off, no clue if his game evolved through the year, I know some scouting services are high on, would have to re-watch.

I have limited viewing of Wood and Musty, so unranked for now.

Just for reference to the size.

Habs definitely need some bigger bodies, but Detroit just iced the biggest line in NHL history and it was soft as f***.

A line of Scott Nichols would have f***ing threw them around. Granted Nichol was at the end of the tough gut era, but still.

You can have small players as long as they got some jam, but you'd want some extras in the lineup just incase the game goes into the gutter.

That said, what size players that are likely available late first, early second, or later are people intrigued by ?

I want Reinbacher so bad. I'm almost at the pint where if we aren't top 5 maybe even top 4 we should take him.

We already first line winger in CC + Slaf should be a top 6 forward + two top 6 centres in Suzuki + Dach. + the PLD rumors. Even if we don't get PLD we need 2 top 6 wingers (Farrel, Roy, Mesar, Heineman, Florida pick, UFA) you can find those players.

But if we get Reinbacher

Guhle - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux
Hutson - Barron
Harris

Guhle - Reinbacher in their prime should be an elite shutdown pairing that also provides okay offense. Then Mailloux + Hutson can do some damage.
This is shaping up to be a nicely offensive backline, raining a torrent of pucks on goal like a swarm of locusts from the Old Testament. :skeptic:

I really like Carson Rehkopf, Kitchener.

Was very good at the U-18, and having a good draft year with what was a troubled Rangers team. Coaching change, first game w/ new coach, a hat trick.

I can see him going in late in Round 1. He’s an early 2nd Rounder on most mocks I have seen.

He’s a C and listed as 6’1, 195 but seems lankier. He’s got 24-21-45 in 49 GP.

Quinton Musty, C, with Sudbury is intriguing. Hasn’t been a max-effort guy but when he’s on, he’s good. Scored a pair last night, now 15-36-51 in 35 GP. He’s 6’2, 197.

Michkov had a three-point game yesterday: a goal and two assists. One was a sweet dish to Alexander Gordin who had a wide open net. His goal was a very deceptive wrist shot that just blew by the goalie, top shelf. A blowout game for Michkov's team. He's getting a decent amount of ice time this season and is acclimating very well to the KHL after dominating the VHL. I honestly expect him to inch closer to PPG as the season draws to an end.

And this is why you can't rank Michkov behind Carlsson/Fantilli. Michkov is doing this in 2nd best pro league in the world, while being physically less advanced than Carlsson and Fantilli. There is a significant talent difference... a team with Caufield and Michkov would be nearly impossible to defend against because they would be on 2 different lines, thus at least one would get 2nd pairing/not shutdown guys.

Of course, Bedard and Caufield is in the same category, but I still consider that Michkov could be better than Bedard.
