It depends. I'm on board with potentially trading that pick for PLD.

We'll see what happens at deadline too. If we sell off Monahan, Anderson, Edmundson and get multiple 1sts & 2nd round picks getting more picks wouldn't really be helpful.

Otherwise, if nothing really happens except Monahan for a conditional 2024 1st, we don't get Bedard, we don't get PLD then yeah if Buffalo wants to use 2 of their 2nds to move up it would worthwhile to consider it. Also depends who's there.
Like to get good right D. Best one in draft anyway. Success we had with Weber. Team rallied around him end of Finals. Impact Lindholm has had with Boston. Changed team.

PLD I think we can sign him as UFA in a year. Keep our 10th overall pick.

It’s crazy that the picks 4-7 in this draft would likely be top 3 picks in last year’s draft
For sure, Smith is heading to have a better season in terms of stats than Cooley who got picked 3rd last draft.

florida loses to vegas ,habs now have 2 picks in top 10, numbers 7 and 9 I think, the dream of 2 picks in the top 10 looking realistic.

Florida's at 10 now, but tied. There are a lot of teams bunched up there, so if they win they'll be out of the top 10. For us, we need to keep losing and try to catch SJ and stay in the top 5. I don't think we will crack ARI or anyone under, very unlikely. Florida will hover around the 9-13 mark for most of the season it looks like.

That would be fantastic to have 7 and 9. Like I said before, winning the loterry and draft in top 2 will be the dream, but just having 2 top 12-14 pick it's amazing too in that draft. Solid forward group at that range with solid RD defenseman aswell with Gulyayev, Pellikka and Reinbacher. That's sooo goood!

Hopefully we have at least 1 top 4 pick.

Where is the vaunted "super-depth" or multiple franchise players in the 2023 draft?

Fantilli and Carlsson did not look better at the WJC or doing better in their own leagues than Lafreniere did at a similar age.

Mitchkov might be amazing but who knows if and when he gets to the NHL?

I see nothing leaping out as "sure-fire franchise player" in the consensus 5-8s = Benson, Dvorksy, Sale, Smith.

Call me "not so sure" right now, other than Bedard the Star, of course.

I completely agree. People have been beating the same drum for months and it's now believed as absolute truth, but I don't see any sure-thing franchise player other than Bedard and Michkov in this draft.

Yes, there are a lot of interesting players in the 3-8 range, but more in the sense that Slafkovsky is an interesting player.

Did you know that Nathan MacKinnon had 0 goals and 1 assist in his lone WJC appearance which was in his draft year? It's completely pointless to devalue a draft eligible player based on his WJC performance when draft eligibles are among the youngest percentile in the tournament.

This is true but it still don't mean this draft is deep or not deep. We just don't know. All we know is there is Bedard and then a bunch of guys that look very good. It's likely deeper than last year yes. But some fans actually think it's deep in the entire 1st round now... gullible

I'm looking at the RS too. Beyond the top-4, I really see nothing amazingly better than what the prospects look like most years. And even #s 2-4 look like many other 2-4s have looked. Maybe all told we get one more star out of the top 4 than usual?
