The fact that there's a chance that Michkov fall to our FLO pick is just insane. I could see him being picked 2nd or like 8-9. Crazy draft.
I don’t think the Habs will draft any players from Russia unfortunately. Imagine passing up on Michkov and he turns out to be an elite franchise 100pt player

I'm just hoping Bedard, Mishkov, Carlesson, and Fantelli are all the real deal and we finish bottom 4!

We'll have more clarity on those russian prospect when the season end. For now I agree that Molson wouldn't let another fiasco on draft day happen again.

Feel kinda bad for him tho since he's just a kid.. unless he says something bad regarding the current war. I didn't see anything yet about that.

Yet Ovy did speak out about the subject and it didn't really do much but it's never the same with MTL medias.

I think in his case, it isn't just the Russian factor. I also think teams will shy away from his KHL contract.

He's signed in the KHL until 2026. Meaning he won't be available before the 2026-27 season. And that is if he doesn't sign to stay an extra year or two in the KHL by then.

I don't think the 3 year wait is a big deal frankly. It spreads out the cap situation and he will outproduce anyone not named Bedard in 2026-2027. Unless Fantilli and Carlsson become 60+ point players right out of the gate, it is well worth waiting for a guy who could be a top 5 player in the league.

I don't disagree. I'm only saying I think it will be one reason teams will shy away from him.

My exact thought. I don't see us doing that if we only had our pick, but with Florida's pick it makes so much sense to just accept the 3years delay for a potential 50+ goal scorer.

I do understand why the risk isn't worth it for some teams, but for us, when we got ample good but not great forward prospects and another high 1st, there is no reason not to take him. We are a young team and just starting a rebuild. Hopefully by then at least one of Hutson/Mailloux/Barron become that #1 dman to compliment Guhle and get a goalie while we add in a superstar ready to contend.

Top 4 means one of the first top 4 positions. Doesn't mean 4th.
You're right of course. But with only 10% chances to win the lottery, and very low odds of ending bottom 3, i don't have very high expectations of that happening.

Kid has speed to burn, and drives the net. He's a straight line player, and a bit of a bull on skates. Really strong lower body strength already. Plays physical. Isn't creative. Has good hands for scoring though, and has a good wrister & one timer. Gets a lot of breakaways. A really aggressive forward with a high compete level.

The question is offensive upside. He's for sure a top 9 NHL forward. But, if he gets a little bigger/stronger can he get to being a top 6 power scoring forward like Evander Kane? This kid doesn't wait around for others to do it for him. He's on top of the puck, in the corners, in the slot.

If you think he tops out as a two-way, top 9 forward who adds the juice to a skill line (someone like Hyman), he's not top 10.

If you think the kid will develop his power game a little more, and is a legit goal scorer then he's definitely in top 10 (E. Kane, Konecny type).

One of the more divisive prospects to rank.
Does this feel similar to Jimmy Snuggerud?

maybe, I think I underrated Snuggerud a bit, I liked him for sure, much like Leonard actually.

fyi.. at some point I should have a vid of tonight's Wisconsin vs the USNTDP U-18's, and Dobes vs Fantilli as i have both games.
OSU is up 5-2 late in the second, outshooting Michigan 44-15

hate to be this guy but let's say we get what we have right now: 6th and 10thOA.

Who would we get and how happy/unhappy would you be?
Will Smith or David Reinbacher at 6, if we end up with Reinbacher, then Oliver Moore! Moore is an elite skater, relentless motor, great hands, great shot, good hockey head, fearless in your face type of center, plays with grit and alot of pace, projects as a really good second line center, a guy that you can send on the PK, PP, to protect a lead or score a goal. Moore over guys like Yager, Salé, Benson quite easily for me. 2+2 tonight against Wisconsin, kid was stellar.

Yager sucked in all games I watched so far this year, looks weaker and slower than last year, got easily checked last game as the last man, as a result, 2 vs 0, gets up, lazy backcheck and a goal against. It sums up the kid season so far, not sure I have him top 20 at that point.

Benson highly talented, skates well with the puck, highly combative, very creative, great puckhandler, but physically outmatched most of the times, not sure his shot is much of a treath and I cant see the Habs drafting another smurf with a high pick.

You must be a massive Reinbacher fan, I just don't see it.

If we walked out of this draft with Reinbacher and Moore, I'd be a little disappointed. Either one is fine at 10, you can talk me into it, but if either were the pick at 6 the team better swing at a high upside guy later, whether that be one of the Ruskies or Cristall...........so Cristall.

Yep, Im a big Reinbacher fan, just like I was a huge Jiricek and Mintyukov fan last year, or the year I had Seider at 4. Did I reach for them?

I loved Mintyukov and Seider, Jiricek less but I'll bite my tongue on that one, his D+1 season has been terrific.

That is hardly an argument to make for him though since Reinbacher isn't as good as any of them, I'm putting my foot down on this one.

Reinbacher has top pairing upside, terrific passing, transitioning game, pretty solid at defending, very high hockey IQ, very well balanced defenseman and big minutes eater in the making.

That's better, now we're getting somewhere.

I think he's pretty decent on transitions but would prefer if he moved the puck up more himself, I don't see a great offensive defender yet (and I also prefer Simashev as far as upside goes, but he's Russian so the Habs wouldn't take him and I digress). For now, I see a second-pairing guy which is neato, but if the Habs go for that at #6 then I don't want Oliver Moore at #10. Go get someone with star upside at forward, the Habs need more than what they have.

I think EP has now Reinbacher at 5, Im not alone on board. They were high on Jiricek as well last year.
