I am surprised Andrew Cristall is not ranked higher. What stood out to me when watching him is he does not have an archetypical way of creating a play. I think this speaks more than anything to his creativity. I also like the way that he opens his hips to create deception, it reminds me a lot of how Kaprizov does the same thing.

Remember the Slaf/Armia comparisons? LOL, I do as I’ve also made that comparison last season.

I mean, Slaf has been dangerous for stretches, but then doesn’t score for a while…
At this point in time, Slaf has not disproved this comparison yet.

With our track record of developing high picks, I am only cautiously optimistic that he doesn't plateau at his worst case scenario, which is a player similar to Armia.

It seems to be regardless of position.

Reinbacher seems too much like Armia!
Ritchie seems too much like Armia!
Yager seems to much like Armia!
Slafkovsky seems too much like Armia!

Like Armia is the only f***ing NHLer.
Armia is a much better comparison than Suzuki, which makes no sense at all.

I wanted to like Armia, I gave him many chances to be a useful player, I even lowered my expectations and after a while, it was time to move on.

Which is how I feel about Yagar. I hope he has a productive NHL career but I’m not interested in him.

If the Habs have players they’d prefer to draft over Yagar, they’ll just draft someone else.

They’ll draft a centre or a right D or I couldn’t believe he was still available or they’ll trade down. When you’re ‘meh’ about somebody, it’s easy to find an excuse why you passed him over.
Yager is a centre...

Lol Armia is only a good comparison with Chris Simon

I don't think we'll reach. There's some interesting defense prospects between 15-50. If we get a third 1st, and a second 2nd, we could go: 2 F, 2D & a goalie and come away with some enticing pieces.

This draft has a much better top 20, maybe 25 than 2022 but I felt 2022 had steals through first 100 picks (early 4th). Not as confident about that in this draft.

Wouldn't hesitate for a second to throw in 2 of our 4ths (keep our own 4th), both 5ths & a 6th to get more top 60 picks if need be.

I'd to keep the 7th for any overagers that they want to draft.
Would you trade down with Florida pick? Say 10 to 15? We get defenseman we want plus another asset

I wouldn't unless that other asset is something really good. The forwards available in the top 10 just look too good to pass up for a solid D prospect and a little something.

2024, but where can Macklin Celebrini play next season?

Following a similar path to Fantilli now, a Canadian leading the USHL in ppg a year before his draft.

Celebrini is young for his draft year though, he will be 17 for all of next season, and definitely won't be ready for the NCAA. Which brings an interesting scenario because he's committed to BU for 25-26. He's likely to change that to 24-25, but still brings the question of what his options are for next year.

It depends. I'm on board with potentially trading that pick for PLD.

We'll see what happens at deadline too. If we sell off Monahan, Anderson, Edmundson and get multiple 1sts & 2nd round picks getting more picks wouldn't really be helpful.

Otherwise, if nothing really happens except Monahan for a conditional 2024 1st, we don't get Bedard, we don't get PLD then yeah if Buffalo wants to use 2 of their 2nds to move up it would worthwhile to consider it. Also depends who's there.

These are professional hockey players, the pressure to win is constant, even in game 47 of a lost season. In game 5, 6, or 7 of a playoff series the pressure is ridiculously high.

Yes - obviously. I'm talking about public/media pressure level. That playoffs series had no pressure from fans/medias, or at least not at in the same realm not what you would have seen in 1993.

I'm sure he'll announce his college selection soon (if he hasn't - I haven't been following this)

Let's say our own 1st ends up top 5 and Florida's between 10-15.

We draft a foward with our pick, and with Florida's Wallinder, Gulyayev, Dragicevic and Sandin-Pellikka are all there. What do you do ?

I would consider Dragicevic and ASP but it would depend on the forwards available as I would imagine I liek one of them more.

Wallinder is not a mid first.
