Skating probably but he’s not a bad skater.I keep reading positive stuff about Smith , whats the things that separate him from being a top 3 pick ?
How would you guys rank:
-Bedard/Michkov/Carlsson/Fantilli/Smith
-Mackinnon/Barkov/Drouin/Jones/Lindholm
-McDavid/Eichel/Strome/Marner/Hanifin
-Hischier/Patrick/Heiskanen/Makar/Pettersson

I mean wjc was Like few days after hlinka so he could only play in 1 tournamentDon't think he's going to the U18 if they consider him promoted to U20 (he didn't go to Hlinka in the summer, he went to the WJC).

My God... 4 goals for Bedard tonight. Pats scored 6 goals, he had 6 pts.
Now 2.41 PPG and even more impressive 1.07 GPG!!!
Well obviously it is more important tournamentIt's not a fullproof intent revealer I know, but they did pick U20 over the Hlinka.
I have Carlsson in my top 3 and certainly ahead of Dvorsky. I don't think the gap is as wide as you suggest however. Both players have different strengths. Carlsson had better players to play with in the WJC and didn't score a goal in the round robin. He scored two clutch goals in the QF and scored one in the bronze medal game which was like a pond hockey game.He tore it up playing with a certain play driving and playmaking winger. He’s a good player, which is why he’s going Top 10 in this draft. But him vs Carlsson isn’t particularly close.
That's because it was one or the other during the summer. Cooley, Kemell and others played in the last WU18 after playing in the WJC.It's not a fullproof intent revealer I know, but they did pick U20 over the Hlinka.
And Benson hat-trick plus an assist. Last 8 games: 9-9-18 and 2.25ppg. Pushing hard into the top 5!My God... 4 goals for Bedard tonight. Pats scored 6 goals, he had 6 pts.

What an effing bust!4 pts now for Bedard. 2g, 2a.
Still 16 minutes left.

In that scenario I would be taking Carlsson/Fantilli + Sale/Cristall. I think the Habs are better off getting a potential 1C that can push Suzuki to the 2nd line. That would make them a contender.1 - Bedard : Nothing to add ...
2 - Michkov : In 5 years, who gonna be the second best of his class? If you answer Michkov, you pick this guy!
3 - Carlsson : Like is overall game and the way he played the game!
4 - Fantilli : I have some concern with the way he battle with adversity like Byfield at the time he seem to have big offensive night versus weaker opponents! Nothing to be crazy but I need more time to evaluate him!
5 - Smith
6 - Benson
7 - Yager
8 - Dvorsky
9 - Sale
10 - Barlow
Maybe I'm crazy to draft Michkov at 2, but I will have difficulty to not pick him if he is available at your rank whatever your rank is. I didn't see us becoming good enough to be contender in the next 3-4 years and when the window will be open I want the best player I can and Michkov is that guy after Bedard. A really good center at ppg or a game breaker winger a la Kaprizov and a threat each time he step on the ice?
If we pick 2 and 7 hypothetically, I prefer a combo of Michkov + Dvorsky/Yager than Carlson/Fantilli + Sale/Barlow/Cristall; 1 winger and 1 center in each case! I think with Slaf, Caufield and Michkov at the wing and with Suzuki, Beck and Dvorsky or Yager at center we can become very competitive!
I'm still unsure about Dragicevic, on paper he looks great but from an eye-test perspective I don't know if I love him as a defensive prospect. Does have good puck protection skills and offensive instincts.

I thought with the U20’s on the other players would have the stage on why they should be picked ahead of Benson and I don’t think any of them really succeeded in accomplishing that.Yeah, watched the 1st period. Every time I watch Benson I fall in love all over again. What a player! Really competitive, in your face kind of player to go along with sick skill. He's noticeably improved his skating.
Ice traded three 1st round draft picks for Ostapchuk tonight. Crazy!
That leaves Honzek #1 in Vancouver, I believe, so we'll see how he handles that.
Some absolutely crazy trades in CHL this year.
