6 months difference doesn’t change a thing. Carlsson is far more talented and far more implicated. He showed a lot more in that tournament and has shown a lot more in a league that is a tier above the one Dvorsky is in. Grant is trying to get clicks.

I'm sure he is, but there is a case to be made for Dvorsky at 23 vs. Carlsson at 23 that is less obvious than your ridiculous absolutist position.

6 months makes a significant difference for sure, stop with the BS. Just compare Dvorsky in August to now...Bedard in August to now....Carlsson...etc.

Dvorksy is a garbage goal machine in U18s competition, he doesn't have the strength to do it yet in U20. He seems to be progressing a lot defensively, in his center skills and in his overall shooting game. Carlsson will always be the more flashy one, but Dvorsky's game might be just as effective in the long run - just with a different composition.

Dvorsky is way closer to a Bergeron type player than Wright will ever be. He was completely trusted in the QF game vs Canada against any of the lines, and killed us in the face-off dot. This as a true 17 year old.

He lacks dynamism, but he's got everything else. I think he definitely makes it and will be a tough match up for anyone.

He's a front-of-the-net scorer, this is hard to do when growing a few inches and not quite being strong enough to take the beating yet.

What you are describing is a 2C in Dvorsky. Solid but not flashy. He’s going to be a good player, but there isn’t anything to suggest that he will be better than Carlsson long term. Leo is putting up Elias Lindholm numbers while looking the part of a pro. Attacking players, creating offence out of nothing. Things Dvorsky doesn’t really do. 6 months won’t close that gap.

If we aren't lucky enough to win the lottery.. I really hope we stay at 5/6 and guarantee ourselves one of Smith or Yager. I can feel pretty comfortable with that.

At 7, I'd hope it would be Cristall rather than Sale or Dvorsky at this point.

We need another game breaker offensively.

If we get Yager, I'd rather have Dvorsky than Cristall. There are just so many small guys we can have, and guys like Dvorsky are more rare than Cristall. The 2024 draft is full of small guys.

You clearly haven't watched his progression.

He does lack dynamism somewhat, but Id say I wouldnt be surprised if he was still a big time producer, especially if paired with a dynamic guy like Cole, or Cristall/Heidt/Smith.

I think the team is for sure missing a star line driving center but if Cole, Slaf and maybe one of the aforementioned wingers pan out as dynamic offensive players it could be possible this would be enough to win.

With that said he's not in my top 5, probably not top 7.

I'm on Dvorsky train too. He is a really solid player... if Habs don't have top 4 pick and can draft him, Benson, Smith or Yager. The top 6 is going to be fun to watch for many years to come.

I believe that Gorton and Hughes can sign a really good UFA one day like Dubois, if it's not Dubois, that will be a very good hockey player.

After this year draft, Habs need to focus on winning. Habs have already a lot of talent on their prospect pool and their actual roster (Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky, Guhle, Xhekaj and Harris).

Yeah, just outside 7 for me. I no longer see him in our range. Hopefully, we pick top 6, and he's not an option there, and he's likely gone by Florida's pick (12-16).

NHL Tankathon lists their standings by points percentage. So the Florida pick is listed at 10th, even though in the actual standings, Florida sit at 11th. Also, NHL Tankathon have updated their mock draft.

So according to their mock, Habs have Will Smith at 6th and Andrew Cristall at 10th. And they have Ryan Leonard at 11th of you want to go with the actual standings that Florida sits with the 11th pick.

Here is their full 1st round mock draft:

4 - Michkov
5 - Benson
6 - Smith

If Florida pick is going to be a top 14 pick, that's a big W.

Yup. Honestly, if they're pick is Top-16, it's a win. That means they miss the playoffs. We all believed this pick would be in the 20's (possibly late 20's), the fact it could be a non-playoff pick would be a win. If the pick is closer to being a Top-10 pick, it'll be gravy.

Boisvert has Musty in his Top-5.

Today is Michkov's 7th game since being loaned to Sochi (worst team in the KHL by far). But with his 2 pts today, he's at 4 pts in 7 GP with them.

He could have easily had another goal and assist. Created probably 6 or 7 good scoring chances for himself and teammates. Leads the team in goals and points in those 7 games he played.

At the fourth position Draft, there is no hesitation to select him imo, even if he is coming in 3/4years. I rather like to have an elite forward 4 years later over another top 6 liner..

Boisvert with his usual shot at trying to look smart with his dumb shot at a big player.

Will Smith and Cristall would be f***ing awesome.

We'd not have to worry about having enough scoring in our top 6 again and we can focus on drafting players that bring some skill with size.
