If we get a late 1st, Gavin Brindley and Maxim Strbak are my 2 favorites. Strbak is a good all around defenseman, nothing flashy in his game, but just overall very solid in the mold of a Ryan Mcdonagh. Brindley has incredible quick feet and puckhandling skills and as small as he is, he is pretty hard to countain, highly combative and shifty, rolls on the hits ect. Kid is an ultra quick processor, is a very good playmaker, good IQ, always in the right spot, not effraid to go in the dirty areas, well, a very good young player and a favorite of mine.

#5 USA
#4 Slovakia

Not only Moore is an elite skater, but he is a very good 2-way center, wins plenty of faceoffs, competes hard on 200 ft., wins most of his puck battles, has very good puckhandling and shooting skills. My top 10 is shaping up and I have Moore at 7 OV right now. I think the kid can become a very good 2nd line center. Ultra dynamic player.

Top 10:

Bedard
Carlsson/Michkov
Michkov/Carlsson
Fantilli
Smith
Reinbacher
Moore
Dvorsky
Benson
Barlow
With two top 10 picks, we need to get this draft right. If we have good draft change face of franchise. That and move some contracts st deadline.

Moore and Christall? Worst case scenario. Bedard and Smith best case? Either of them make great future.

Brindley in first round? Hes small and not putting up much offense in college

Brinley is used on the USA top PK and was trusted in the last 5 mins to score goals by his coach tonight, he is a draft eligible prospect playing on a strong NCAA team, expect a major rise in offensive production next year.

I've really liked what I've seen from Strbak. Kid is playing extremely well, and is already a solid defender.

Brindley may fall due to height factor. Hopefully, he's there with our second round pick, although he's 1st round on a lot of draft tables, so highly doubtful.

One of the drafts had Brindley top 10. Another one top 15.

I'm not sure how anyone can watch Edmonton, with their group of forwards, and say we need a franchise forward. We need a #1 puck moving defenseman. All the teams winning cups have them. We don't. We can keep stocking up the forward cupboard but at some point we need a true #1. We haven't had one since PK and Markov. That said, it's not a great defensive crop this year, but I don't think we turn it around and start competing for a wildcard without that #1 d. I really hope our staff has their eyes open and trade a couple more guys and go heavy on d in the later rounds and hopefully hit a homerun pick.
In the '23 draft, we have to rise in pecking order to be in a position to justify picking a d-man. Draft the best value pick and if they're both forwards, you trade one of them for a #1 d-man when they develop.

I was in town to watch Andrew Cristall against Kelowna on the 27th. He had two points and was a menace offensively for much of the game. In the first period, almost every time he was on the ice there was a serious scoring chance created. Not an exaggeration to say he could have ended the night with 5 points. However, he had many costly, bad turnovers and is not an NHL ready player defensively.

He is special. He could sneak in the top 8.
