Biggest disappointments so far this season have been Dvorsky and Yager, I see no progression at all.

Also, I dont have Fantilli in the same tier as Bedard, Carlsson, Michkov. Its more Smith vs Fantilli for 4th OV for me.

Dvorsky looks like he might be outside the top 10 come draft time. Considering how little he's showed growth and rarely any signs of dominance, I don't get top 6 vibes watching him play.

I still see a big drop between Fantilli and Smith. I'll pay more attention to Smith.

The biggest reason why Fantilli is above Smith (and Carlsson) on lists is the skating differences.

Fantilli is just an awesome skater.

My concerns on Fantilli are just hockey IQ. Carlsson's IQ is higher and his skill level is fantastic, I think his skating will figure itself out as he gets stronger too.

Assuming our first-round picks stay around where they are, I think drafting Benson/Cristall/Sale with our pick and Matthew Wood with the Florida pick would be perfect. One left-handed, one right-handed. One smaller guy, one bigger guy. With Suzuki, Dach, Beck and potentially Dubois as young centers, we just need to find the best scoring wingers available. I think this year is showing that our defense will be fine with what we have in the system. A goalie like Hrabal would be great if HuGo pick up a late first-round pick.

Our forward depth chart would look something like that:
Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield
Benson-Dubois-Mesar
Farrell-Dach-Wood
Roy-Beck-Ylonen

Fantilli is an upmarket Dylan Cozens, and Dylan is turning out to be quite good. I was certain a player that stupid couldn't turn out to be anything, but as it turns out, you can overrate hockey IQ.
Even Byfield is slowly starting to figure the game out in the AHL after 2 years, there's hope for even the most hockey IQ challenged player if you're big and you can skate.

Yeah, our defense is ok, but imo we still lack quality depth. I would be perfectly okay adding more D, especially RD at this draft, but we also shouldn't reach for it. We're basically hoping Mailloux and/or Hutson make it. We need more than 2 hopefuls.

Harris & Xhekaj still have a long way to go. They're still penciled in as far as top 4D go. Kovacevic is bottom pairing. Only Guhle has shown top 2D potential. If Xhekaj/Harris/Kovacevic all top out in 4-6 range then we need to fill #1, #3.

It's almost impossible to have too much D.

Didn't you freaking love Dach? Thought you had him #4, or close to?
I did, rightfully so lol. Had him 5th I think.

But prior to watching him more I had Cozens in that spot and the NP and WTK forced me into watching Dach more and it ended up in a very strong patch for Kirby.

Im mostly kidding, I loved Dach too, still do.

I agree, but I think picking a RHD would be reaching this year, compared to the forwards we may get. Our depth chart on D at the moment would not drastically be improved by taking a D from this draft, IMO.
Guhle-Barron
Hutson-Mailloux
Xhekaj-Harris
Engstrom

We need scoring forwards.

Sandin-Pellika making moves and if he keeps this up, I think he can get close to 10. He’s a right shot D putting over a point per game in J20 (Swedish junior league). He’s had a few games in SHL, and has looked good. Given lack of defense in this draft, I think he can rise similar to Seider.

How do you feel about this if this were the outcome? Personally, a little underwhelming ..Dvorsky is not playing great and Leonard is nothing exciting for a top pick imo. I’d rather Benson over Dvorsky (although in this mock he was already taken)

Just take Cristall and Wood.

Fantilli has the phsyicality too where you just know he will make it. I admit Carlsson could have a higher upside, but there's so much more risk than Fantilli. Size, skating, shooting, physicality, he's a slam dunk to be a guy that helps you win games, soon.

Carlsson has dangles for days but I don't know how successful it will be in the NHL, a bit of a unicorn if he hits as there aren't too many people his size that play like him. He's like a magician sometimes how he can just split through 2 defenders

I'm still waiting for Fantilli to actually wow me in a big game. I have a lot of questions on whether he can put those tools together against top end defenders.
