Speculation: Leafs interested in Brayden Schenn

If the Blues are willing to take back Kampf or Domi, there is no issue fitting Schenn under the cap.

The issue is the "mammoth" return that the blues want.

We only have a handful of premium trade assets (Cowan/Minten/2026 1st), and we really shouldn't be spending them on someone like Schenn, given he's 33 and signed to a less than ideal contract.

Not gonna work from the Leafs end unless prices come down.

Brayden Schenn is a high end 3c, worth about 5 million per year over 2-3 years. But nobody wants that 4th year.

I would even say Brayden Schenn has negative value at 6.5 m and 4 years.

If they retain 2 million and they trade him at 4.5 million then Schenn is worth a 1st + prospect. If they don’t, he has zero value imo. I wouldn’t even take him for free at 6.5 x 4.

So will the Blues retain? They might be better off just holding him as a veteran through the retool, that’s why I predict he will just stay a Blue.
