I could definitely see us going down the Slovakian well a couple more times in the middle rounds if some of the 21-22 Hlinka guys are still around ( Repcik,Ciernik,Natny, Sotek, etc.) . If we're lucky, Molnar or Strbak might even slip a little . Maybe even Honzek, although he's having a heck of a season. It really is a mini golden generation.

I like both RyLeo and Mathieu Bois but Id be hella freakin mad if thats what the Habs had as a haul after the shit year we are having. On that list, Cristall and Heidt would be better, more exciting picks.

Goes to show that we absolutely need to get at least one pick in the top 10.
I agree! I feel we definitely need one of:

Bedard
Fantilli
Carlsson
Sale
Michkov
Smith
Dvorsky
Barlow
Yager
Benson

Hypothetical situation: Habs pick ends up being 4th and Bedard, Fantilli and Carlsson are gone. Who do you draft? Do you go for the home run pick (Michkov) that won't be in North America till 2026 or a "safer pick" like Smith.

Speaking of which, any impressions so far on Alexander Rykov, Roman Kantserov or Nikita Nedopyokin?
Rykov reminds me a Lekhonen, honest offensive toolbox, great head for the game but Im unsure he had "it". Skills may be lacking. Not the first two picks.

I havent seen the others.

Michkov any day. I think im even picking him over AF and LC now.

Our only hope is Florida's pick at this point. Habs are finishing in that sweet spot of 12-16.

the schedule is starting to look tough. I'm not sure if we're a 500 team looking at the schedule. All it'll take is a couple injuries up front, we have a shit goalie, and our two best dman are in their first year of the nhl.

I'd love to get Michkov, but I don't think Molson would ever give the green light to pick him.

Earlier this week we were 21st in the league and after tonight we could be tied for 27th if everything goes well.
If the injuries continue and Hughes makes some early trades (especially Monahan), then I think we'll start to cement ourselves into the bottom 5.

Slaf was a Matthews (and Leafs) fan before being drafted by the Habs.

Is this Destiny?

Haha that’s true i forgot about that

The ultimate dream is that we land with two top 10 picks. Like Habs finish bottom 5 somewhere and panthers are 7-9.

At this point in the season there is a very real possibility that happens. If both teams go on a losing streak until we play eachother. It'll be great. I want the kids to grow....but that faint light of the playoffs is so dim.

Dreaming of a draft where we somehow get one of Bedard, Fantilli or Carlsson and Michkovs russian factor drops him to us as well.

If it came down to it who would you guys prefer Sale or Yager?

I'm on team Sale. I really don't like Yager at center. I find him .... pedestrian. I liked him a lot better last year, as a winger.

Not much from Musty but he's currently leading all U-18 scorers in the OHL.

Musty has picked his game up since Sudbury made their coaching change. He's pulling a "Caufield" , so to speak. Stylistically, he reminds me a lot of Brad Lambert. Really underrated playmaker with has a nasty wrister. He's growing on me.
