I'm on team Sale. I really don't like Yager at center. I find him .... pedestrian. I liked him a lot better last year, as a winger.

Musty has picked his game up since Sudbury made their coaching change. He's pulling a "Caufield" , so to speak. Stylistically, he reminds me a lot of Brad Lambert. Really underrated playmaker with has a nasty wrister. He's growing on me.
Where is Musty projected to go?

Are there goalies worth of mention late 1st/early 2nd ? For some reasons, if we acquire another pick in that range, wouldn't mind taking a guess at one, I honestly don't believe that much in Primeau, Dobes is promising but having another 'top' goalie in the fray wouldn't hurt... is Michael Hrabal any good ?

Yes, Hrabal is very good.

Hrabal, Bjarnason and Fowler are the top 3.

I'd love to get Michkov, but I don't think Molson would ever give the green light to pick him.

Earlier this week we were 21st in the league and after tonight we could be tied for 27th if everything goes well.
If the injuries continue and Hughes makes some early trades (especially Monahan), then I think we'll start to cement ourselves into the bottom 5.
If Hughes really wants a top 5 pick all he has to do is trade Monahan the minute he is ready to play (for a 1st round pick of course). These past few games he has shown to be the engine that makes this team win. Without Money Hands, they've been putrid.

I made that call a little prematurely! Think we are a 5-10 team now
The sooner they trade Monahan the closer they get to that 1 OA.

Heard that. Right now most simulations have us picking 9 and 14 (Fla)

Going to be wishful thinking to finish bottom 5.
Ari/Phi/Chi/ANA/SJ/CLB will most likely finish below us.

VAN will probably dump Horvat and go into a tank. Then you add in some bubble teams like NSH and we are probably looking at 8-11.
I agree with you on this one. With a draft like this one, there will be more than usual teams that will throw in the towel early and start purposely tanking. Teams are going to accept (embrace) the inevitable. I see the Habs trading some players, but not until the deadline. By then these other teams will have been in full tank mode. Habs just don't seem to be trying to tank in the same way that some of these other teams are.

I'm reading a lot on here about Hrabal as possible late first pick. If we were going strictly BPA, where would you say he would be ranked? Who would you compare him to (impact wise) from the NHL?

Yeah, I compared him to Lambert too earlier this year. In the same way, there is doubt about him with his effort and all too. The thing that there is no doubt about is his offensive production, this kid can produce. Looking forward to see him again soon, he's an exciting package.

If he plays at the top end of his ability there is no way he is not a top 10, if not top 5 player in this draft when the chips fall down.

Here's an exercise:

Let's say we get picks 5 and 6. As of right now, what do you do?

Option 1: Use both to trade up for any of the top 4 spots to secure Bedard/Michkov/Fantilii/Carlsson (and if so would you be ok with 5+6 for 4, what would you want in return if that's too much and our other assets aren't enough value?).

Option 2: Use both picks (on who as of now?).

Option 3: Trade one or both to address a need and potentially use the pick with the other (who would you trade for?).

Option 4: Use one of the picks and trade down with the other (on who as of now and how far down would you go back?).

I recall in 2018 there were people wanting to trade the 3rd overall for 11+12, and also last year some were suggesting trading the 1st overall for 6+12. Seems like it would be the other way around this time if this happened.

Yeah, Musty is on a 16 game point streak, in which he has scored 32 points. He's ridiculously talented.

I doubt he keeps 2 pts a game pace up, but he is on pace for 100+ pts.

His early season ranking is based off his play from last year when he wasn't great. I think most would consider it disappointing.

He's taken a big leap this year. I expect he takes a massive leap up the rankings in January.

Would you trade pick 4 for 5-6 ? I expect most would not. Maybe if Carlsson keeps slowing down.

The only thing is that he has to very glaring flaws that he shares with Dach and Slaf.

Ive seen him so many times pull off the most stupid play I have ever seen, that he somehow worries me IQ wise. Not unlike Lambert again here too.

He seems to be downright soft at times, just like Dach. Defers to the board way too often, moves the puck too quick, doesn't cut inside... And then, just like Dach, theres games where is downright dominant and an absolute menace.

Im starting to hate these kids that are very hard to judge and put a cap and a floor on their potential.

Oh yeah, even though he's 6'2, he's definitely not a power forward. He's also much more of a playmaking forward than a shooter, and I feel we already have 2 of those in Dach & Slaf.

We need more than Caufield to shoot. Slafkovsky eventually will even it out, I think, but I don't think Dach ever will.

Musty is extremely skilled. It's frustrating.

Yeah, Mustys the type of dude that will either become Tage or he will become a what if, theyre always good bet to be fair, if hes there past 15 you think about him really hard.

I would heavily consider it if I'm being honest. The top 4 are multiple tiers ahead of the rest of the class as of now.
I mean if you had the 4th pick, would you consider flipping it for 5-6 ?
I think so too. They're looking great, finally getting out of the basement lol
Theyd be solidly in a PO spot if they didnt have bad goaltending.

Also Samuelsosn coming back is going to help them, he was very good.

I’m keeping and making the picks. Two high end players on ELCs will go a long way. At this point I’d be taking Smith and Yager. This team needs an injection of offensive skill and speed.

Though I’d like to see Reinbacher at this WJC to get sold on him. The need for a top pairing RD is big.

That's fair, but I feel like we need quality first and foremost. We got ample depth forward prospects.

I could definitely see us going down the Slovakian well a couple more times in the middle rounds if some of the 21-22 Hlinka guys are still around ( Repcik,Ciernik,Natny, Sotek, etc.) . If we're lucky, Molnar or Strbak might even slip a little . Maybe even Honzek, although he's having a heck of a season. It really is a mini golden generation.
Out of all those players you named, only Ciernik, Strbak and Honzek are NHL material. Do not look at nationality, take BPA.
