We need to finish bottom 10, correct? (to be in the lottery for the 1st or 2nd or 3rd overall). I'm 99% sure about this, but not 100% sure, yet!

Finishing outside of the bottom 10 won't get us in the lottery..I assume.
(really hoping for a top 10 pick! or...playoffs! nothing in between! hoping for a shot at the lottery..to move up to 1st or 2nd or 3rd overall!! Bedard or Fantilli or Carlsson).

Thanks/cheers (ahead of time for any info on this).
That’s incorrect.

You’re still in lottery if you’re 15th or something but if you win, you only jump to 5th, not 1st.

It's originally Florida's pick, but it's owned by us at the time of the lottery. Not sure what logic applies here. Original ownership vs. ownership at the time of the lottery. One thing for sure, trading for a 1st will become popular for rebuilding teams if it allows them to bypass the rule.

Trading for a 1st is popular now. Majority of 1st round trades are top 10 protected - even the Eichel trade it was. Vegas just sucked last year, so it ended up 13th instead of 20+ like they expected.

This is the 1st test of the "2 wins" standard. It's extremely rare that teams don't protect their 1st, when they don't it usually bites them in ass.

Ottawa giving up Byram in Duchene trade, SJS giving up Stutzle in Karlsson trade.

Florida giving up Fantilli in the Chiarot trade :sarcasm:

Our only hope is Florida's pick at this point. Habs are finishing in that sweet spot of 12-16.
People are being overdramatic again. Reminds me of the time we were guaranteed to finish 11th last to give our 1st for Dvorak last year. Or how it was impossible for us to fall below Philadelphia and Chicago.

This team is not good, but our start will likely prevent us from a bottom 3 finish especially when there are teams like Anaheim, Columbus, and Chicago.

Simply stating my thoughts on where I think we will finish. We are 3/8's finished the season and it is right where we sit right now.

We haven't even gone through our hard stretch yet and injuries are pilling up, 1st line has cooled off, defense is showing its weakness, and goalies are wildly erratic. Don't know why you think Florida is in a better position to get a better 1st than us.

Anyone see Yegor Sidorov, he's lighting the dub on fire, 14 goals in 15 games, damn. He was passed over last year, 18 all year.
