2023 NHL Draft situation

If Boston wins the division it doesn’t matter which team (Tampa or Toronto) loses 1st. If they depart in rd1 and rd2 they will draft based on their regular season finish.
I just want to make sure they don’t make conference finals. Either way, go Leafs…

What about this trade?

Kaner full retention to the Capitals for:

1. Their 2023 1st - currently 11th
2. Top prospect Alexendar Suzdalev - Soon to be 19 yearold LW forward. Averaging 1.33 PPG in theminors and states quite well. Seems to work hard going into the corners battling for picks. Good stick handlers also.

Do we have to add a sweetner like a 2024 3rd? Too much, too little?

The Caps have a non zero shot at Bedard. No way they do this.

To Chicago:
:hawks
-Vitali Kravtsov
-the rights to Bryce McConnell-Barker
-2024 NYR 1st round pick

To New York:
:rangers
-Patrick Kane (25 per cent salary) ($2,625,000 cap hit)
-2024 Chicago 5th round pick

To Arizona:
:coyotes
-retention on Patrick Kane
-2025 NYR 4th round pick

This is what I'd be willing to do. Anything less, and the Rangers can kick rocks.

Feels right. I think Drury is going to wait to see if KD blinks first trying to not give away another 1st.

I don’t know if the rangers actually do anything knowing Kaner is preferring them and might end up there over summer.

The only place he'll sign in the summer is Chicago.

He's interested in going to New York now because it's a 3 month trip to win a Cup with Panarin, and then he's back to Chicago.

He's not going to permanently uproot his life, or forgo his conquest to break more franchise records.

I don’t think they have the cap for that with the contracts Chytil and Miller will get

Kane is likely gonna sign in Chicago or go back to Buffalo this off-season imo. Buffalo on the rise and if Kane doesn’t want to do a rebuild he may want to play for the Sabres who are gonna be really good soon. Most of the top tier contenders pretty cap strapped this off-season

Hope so. I’m ready to be hurt

Buffalo seems like the obvious answer to the prospect of him uprooting his life… and further play hockey competitively

Lots of contenders being interested in Kane means lots of teams to negotiate with which further means lots of juicy deals to choose from.

The "Ryder, Halak and a 2nd" deal that the rangers are offering won't be happening.

At minimum there are 4 contenders interested in Kane. Which contenders is he interested in is the question.

Maybe management/Ownership PR doesn’t want him back? Re-signing a player tied to the Beach scandal maybe looks bad?

I hope it’s not the case but it could be a reason if he isn’t brought back

If that was the case why would Sharp be one of their main commentators, Fraiser be a scout, or Campbell be a executive near Assistant GM level.

Very true. Other than that I can’t see how he’s not a Hawk next year. He’ll make the most money here and break Hawks records here

If he's staying why uproot it at all? This could be a Tkachuk situation but those are pretty uncommon.
A quick chance to win a cup, play with Panarin, be in home state, help the Hawks rebuild.

He knows Chicago won't be competitive for a long time and he's said before that he's committed to that. Why not take a stab at a playoff run since there won't be one for the foreseeable future?

Sure. Why not sign home in Buffalo and bring his childhood team back to glory?

The difference is I'm giving an opinion while you're making a bunch of assumptions and presenting them as the one true path.
