The SCENARIO has to be posed:
IF we do notcwin the lottery should KD offer our entire Draft set of picks for Brdard?
Would a GM who wins the #1in the lottery make such a deal?
Or is 1 Generational worth the haul that bottom feeders gets with what the Hawks have in in thus draft index where we pick early in rounds lulu's our multiple picks.?
I cannot remember which NFL GM offered his team's entire draft for just 1 player he desperately wanted ..but offering our entire draft for1 Generatuonal talent seems good to me..Sure we do not get deoth and we risk the whole enchilada on 1 guy who might drop dead the next day for all we know...but still :

Not surprise that NHL scouts didn't like Cristall, undersized winger. But he never be overhyped. If he's overhyped, last season CHL's rookie of the year won't be Yager. It's just hard to ignore such a productive player, ppl knew his name by his strong stats, instead of highlights on the social media.

I did sone research...
In the 1999 NFL draft New Orleans Saints GM Mike Ditka gave his entire 1999 set of Saints draftvpicks + a 1st and 3rd from their 2000 Draft to movevup to get Ricky Williams at #5 overall in 1999 Draft.
So that turned out to be :
1999: #12 #74 #107 #144 #179 #218
2000= #2 and #64
Total = 8 picks
So I ask if we do not get Bedard via lotto win shoukd KD pull a Ditka or soneting similar to movevuobfrom#2or#3 or #4 or #5 since Hawks probably willbe picking in the 2-5 range in such a scenario...

Hawks have 19 picks over 2023 and 2024 drafts....(maybe more if we donsomecdealsxat TDL))...would you give up 8 for 1 lije Ditka did to move up to get the guy you wanted (Bedard).?

Big risk for Hawks betting the farm on1 guyvto save them..He could sign then be wiped out in a car crash...Having multiple pickscebsures ddpthbif pipeline and avoids catastrophic risk to bad things happening to just 2 giy.
However there is another BIG part of the equation.
Bedard may be the greatest cash cow coning....Merch Sales...If he is zgretzky'lije then NHL with next big things marketing the league and driving merch sales and attendance to see hom.
There are a lot of issues here including where best he shoukd end up for both franchise and league...

The prospect board is interesting.
There are people claiming Bedard, Fantilli, Michkov, Carlsson, and Sale are all worthy of going 1st overall and there's no gaps between them.
I don't think I've seen that many differing opinions on 1st overall, especially in a draft that has a Bedard-level talent.

No doubt.
Bedard is the clear cut #1.
I'm just surprised to see the discourse stating otherwise.
Everyone does it every year. So much time to kill until the actual draft. Not that bedard is McDavid he’s not I’m sure in McDavids draft there was knowledgeable posters talking themselves into a eichel scenario.

Absolutely there was.
But were people including Strome and Marner is those talks as well?
Because that's what's happening right now with Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, and Sale.

Strome wasn't a reach at 3. In hindsight he wasn't a great pick but he was right there with Marner as far as going 3rd/4th and obviously, Arizona preferred the centre (as most teams do).

Maybe but he sucks
I wanted to like Strome when he was here but he really just doesn't have any jam or determination to his game. Can't win with guys like that. He's not a terrible player, particularly offensively but he's not a guy you can count on.
Agreed. Seems like a nice fella but overall softness and musto just made him maddening to watch
