-Look at a list of the top 30 players

-Pick a random guy not listed in the top 5-10 range who is scoring a lot in their league and start hyping him up (Picking someone out of the top 5-10 is crucial so you appear smart for seeing something pro scouts dont.

If player is drafted by the Hawks build a shrine of said player and pay $500 for lock of their hair and hype him up as the next generational player (along with Ian Mitchell, Peter Reynolds, and Dylan Strome).

If player is not drafted by the Hawks proceed to question the intelligence of the GM + scouting department and set a bag of poop on fire in front of Nolan Allans house just because.

The argument isn’t simply top 10 though, Musto is claiming he’s a clear #3 in this draft.

But it’s you who creates the impression that you should be followed “first and foremost”.
Others put out rankings, the placement of players does vary some. Yet they all coexist.
You put out rankings and feel the need to be critical of every other source.

Also as noted by someone else, a few weeks ago you said you weren’t tracking a player yet. 1 week later you denied ever saying that and proclaimed extensive knowledge.
I wrote something about watching players 20 times (games). You said you don’t watch them that often.
Nobody (my opinion) gets a good enough look watching video of players, even when it spotlights the player. Too many things happening on the ice that you want to see the guys response.

I’ve been up front about not spending time doing research that I lack the ability to really do effectively. Video has limitations of what you see. If you’re not seeing them in person several times … you’re not seeing them.

There are a few people on the HF prospects board that do good work.

Off the top of my head SEPH, ConnorMcMullet, and GermanSpitfire are guys that put in the work. Probably a couple others I'm forgetting. Actually Teemu who posts here has good takes, just doesn't contribute that often.

As for actual industry writers/journalists:

Mark Edwards is legit and has actual league connections
Brock Otten I think is the best for OHL coverage
Andy Lehoux was the best for QMJHL but he got hired by the Sea Dogs so he doesn't do public work anymore
At EliteProspects, I think David St-Louis is pretty smart

Probably more, but that's what comes to mind right now.

Actually you may not be too far off. I had never heard of Cristall before you mentioned him a while back and he’s soaring right now. He’s at #6 on dobberprospects for their mid season list right behind Benson. Still not that high yet in mock’s, usually in early teens

You can watch a lot of games and still not be that knowledgeable about hockey, or what makes a good player in the league. (ie/ liking Strome, Mitchell, Reynolds, etc.)

Seems like you choose the guys you like, if the GM doesn't draft them then he's an idiot, if the GM does draft them and that prospect doesn't pan out then the organization sucks at development. Either way you win and are super super smart.
