2023 NHL Draft situation

Crawford took FIVE YEARS in the AHL before he made the NHL...let that sink in

That’s missing the two years he spent in the CHL too. I feel like most goalies would be in the league at some capacity 5 years after being drafted Crawford wasn’t even consistently getting games until 2011. Crawford’s timeline is pretty far from being the norm for goalies and it shouldn’t be crazy to be expecting comesso to be seeing the ice even as a backup by 2024 or 25

This is not correct. If a team 12th or higher wins the 1st draw the Number 1 pick doesn’t change.
If the move up of 10 slots (or less) pushes 2 teams into the #2 position the team with the better record picks 3rd.
The only threat to the worst team picking 1st is the 1st lotto.
This is correct.

Base case senior for the Blackhawks if they finish last is they either win the lotto outright or a team 12+ wins the first draw. In the second case, they second draw does not matter and the last place team gets Bedard.

So I was looking up Michkov highlights on Youtube and then I checked out his numbers on EliteProspects and from looking at his documented stats, he seems like he's a shoot first ask questions later type of prospect.

He seems to goals to assist ratio seems to be 2 to 1 .

The kid must love to shoot, and score. Ugh if not for the Russian factor. A team could potentially get a steal if this kid slides as a result. At the same time though, that same team could pick a player who never comes over to play in the NHL too :dunno:

Who were some of your other obsessions the last few years in the draft?
2018 - Quinn Hughes, Jonatan Berggren
2019 - Jakob Pelletier
2020 - Marat Khusnutdinov
2021 - Kirill Kirsanov
2022 - David Jiricek, Pavel Mintykov, Frank Nazar
2023 - Connor Bedard, Andrew Cristall... maybe David Reinbacher

Where’s Ethan Keppen and Peter Reynolds?
Those were never obsessions.

Those were just guys I wanted in later rounds because I thought they'd be good value picks.
Simon Robertsson Musto wanted over Colton Dach.

Also Musto was a big Kirby guy.(I was too, so I can't really criticize)
Robertsson wasn't an obsession. But was among many names I had ahead of Colton Dach.

Yup, Kirby can go on the obsession list.

Naturally, Dawson Mercer belongs on that list as well.

I was a big Mercer guy too. Reichel is a good prospect but Mercer is already contributing in NJ.
I was nearly as pissed as you were that they passed on Mercer for Reichel. I couldn't believe that Mercer was still available. I was convinced he'd go in the 11-15 range that year.

You demanded the GM be fired when the Hawks didn't draft Reynolds. You flat out had a tantrum.

Just an amalgamation of my frustration with Stanley and Kelley

The straw that broke the camel's back, if you will

Those two were a clown show, and horribly incompetent

EDIT: You have to understand, context wise, this is with the embarrassing Seth Jones trade still fresh, the drafting of Nolan Allan in the first round, taking Colton Dach too early because Stanley was obessessed with his brother narrative, and trading up to acquire Taige Harding (a bust who wasn't even projected to get drafted).

Also really wasn’t a Seth Jones trade thing. It was because you thought and assumed he was a trumpie.

Nolan Allen and Colton Dach both wjc roster members. Taige is a bust how? Pretty decent numbers in the ncaa. All while Ethan keppen and the Peter Reynolds are where exactly?

You have the same hit rate as Stan the man as Blackhawks calls him and mark Kelley

You couldn't believe a guy fell two spots from where you projected him?

I didn’t have Reichel as our pick...

My three options were...
If we moved up in draft I wanted Seth Jarvis
If we stayed where we were I wanted Noel Gunler
If we traded down in draft I wanted JJ Petruka

Still really like Seth Jarvis...who I don’t know of anyone remembers this or not, this was Torontos’ pick traded to Carolina along with the ‘Canes taking Patrick Marleaus contract...hope the same happens with Sam Rinzel!

You don't have to be great to make a world junior roster.

Brendan Perlini did it, among many losers. Hell, look at this year's roster. Jack Matier? lol

Taige has always been a bust. Since the day he was drafted.

Ok keep going another tantrum is coming I guess
