I want Bedard but I will be happy to just get a stud top pick if we dont. Outside of Korchinski we dont have an impact player in the system

Certainly helps, but arguably not necessary. Colorado largely rode their multiple (5) high first round picks and filled in with savvy trades and UFAs.

Hitting on lower picks is critical for keeping the machine rolling once you have a legitimate core in place though.

Obviously Tampa took more of the route you described, but I think the Hawks are more in a position to try and build around five top-10 picks like the Avs did.

One is in place so far, Korchinski.
If say we get lucky win the lottery and get Bedard, I think if we stay the course some we can turn thus around quicker then you think. We got a few more pieces already in place beside Korchinski. I think Reichal at minimum can be that pesky two guy that has enough skill to play wing in the top six. We got a couple possible stay at home type d guys in Allen and Del Mastro. Then there is a lot of 2nd and third rounds the last two years that you just don't know how will go. Also don't sleep on Nazar he was a top 10ish guy.

Plus it won't just be high firsts alone the next few years. We have like 12 picks in the top 100 in the next two drafts already and that is before we dump players this year.

The real wild card and if we get lucky at hit on is Goalie. Goalie is just tough to predict. But we do have Commesso who was a high 2nd pick and is a good prospect. The other intriguing kid is Basse, he is a massive Goalie (6'6) who we drafted late in 2019 draft. Kid was at as small school, but transferred to St. Cloud St. now and has been looking good.

People tend to forget about Nazar (he is hurt). Kid was ranked by a few as a top 10 pick last year. Elite Prospects ranked he as the 5th best prospect in that draft. He is a little bit boom or bust but has big upside.

I want Bedard. That’s it. End of story.
The wait is going to kill me. It'll be some time in May i guess. I want Bedard for obvious reasons but also because it'll give us something to watch starting next year. I love hockey and I love the Hawks. They won me over for life in 2010 but this season sucks and there's little reason to watch any of the games. I wouldn't mind the losing if we can watch a phenom play for us while we lose 50 games.

I’m not totally disregarding that it can be faster than other teams have done it. I do see the path that you mentioned.

But a few busts of top-of-the-draft picks, and it could set things back just as quickly.

Davidson needs to hit on the high end talent, and the potential future depth players in the system could already be established and ready to support future stud rookies. So you could have a scenario where some of your best players are on ELCs being supported by guys you drafted last year and this year.

It will be interesting, but I get a little itchy when people start talking like there are short cuts or this is only a 2-3 year thing. I think they’re not being realistic about how long this thing could potentially take.

Honestly I want to see the Hawks get Bedard just for the chaos that will occur, already hilarious seeing people get so angry by just the thought of it.
Can’t you just want him because you are a hawks fan and want to see the franchise be successful? Why does it need to be about trolling other fanbases?

Many were down on Fantilli earlier in the tournament

He has 5 points in 6 games

MacKinnon at the World Juniors in his draft year: 1 point in 6 games

Fantilli looked fine tonight. He is getting better as the touney goes on. He is also only playing on the 4th line.

Had great speed and cut to the net on the goal he scored. He also hit the post on a 1-timer.

He reminds me of an Eric Staal type. That is a great player to have as your 1st line C if we draft 2nd. (but we're drafting 1st)

I just hope Columbus doesn’t pick him. I’d be perfectly fine if they go on a tear and take themselves out of the lottery and pick 14th same with Florida and MTL

Whoops my bad CBus vs WSH is tomorrow. ANH is up 2-0 in their game tonight however
Muscular Water Fowl as Stu Grimson referred to them got the 2-0 win, way to go! Now BJs need to get a win tomorrow (sadly not likely they are equally as bad as the Hawks) against the Caps.

Just looked over BJ's schedule ouch. 6 straight games against good teams. Hawks are going to have to step it up a notch to go toe to toe with them. Maybe even more Mrazek is needed. Remember the scene in the Stallone soccer movie Victory where the starting goalie had to break his arm on purpose so Sly could play in the game. I am thinking if Slalock is a team player.....

Lightning with 5-1 loss helping Hawks 2nd first rounder, Hagel with an assist.

Realize that the odds are still very much against the Hawks getting Bedard even if they are in last place (25%). So for sanity purposes, expect to not receive the number 1 pick.

In terms of the lack of a reason for watching the Hawks, stop watching them!! I vividly remember in the year that Crawford got hurt and missed the rest of the season and the Hawks missed the playoffs. I religiously watched every game since that is what I had been doing for years and it was brutal. Then the playoffs started and the quality of play was light years ahead of the awful Hawks games and I said never again would I subject myself to awful hockey simply because I have a history of following the team. Nowadays, I watch a few teams with elite players (Toronto, New Jersey, Carolina, the Rangers, and the Blues) and the quality of hockey is so much higher than the moribund Blackhawks. Granted, dynasty hockey teams and gambling makes other games more enjoyable and that has definitely made me interested in other players and teams. I still watch the Hawks extended highlight packages on Youtube and that is probably more attention than they deserve right now. Overall, the NHL is fantastic right now and the playoffs look to be an absolute war especially in the East. You're really missing out if you only focus on the Hawks.

The point about the lottery is that the last place team only has an18.5% chance of winning the #1...and there is a scenario where Sox could drop to #3....
So whike finishing last does give higher probability of getting the #1or #2 and guarantees no worse than #3,it is not in tge bag tgat finishing last getsyou the #1or #2 for certain...

So imagine team in 16th slot pre-lotto wins draw 1...moves up ten spots only ...and anitger longshot team from 12-15 wins draw 2,then it is the case Hawks as last place team still get the #1 despite not winning eitger draw!

But you also can imagine scenarios where 2 other teams in top 11 spots wins the #1and #2
and Hawks as last place finisher get pushed back to #3pick.
Or if a team in top 11 pre-lotto wins 2nd draw abd team 12 pre-lotto winds draw ;Hawks only get the#3..

So finishing last gives better odds for #1or#2 but still possibilities they only get #3 pick.

So to all those counting chickens before they hatch....prepare for possible great disappointment in NOT getting Bedard..

But worst possible scenario is that should STL and Nashville go into lotto draws amongst the the top11 and 12 draft slots pre-lotto
and they both win a draw ;it would be a bitte rpill to see Bedard and Fantilli end up with thise 2 rival teams . .so we better hope that doesn't haooen.

Yeah, I'm still a big fan of the Hawks but there's very little reason to watch them this year outside of watching Kane/Toews' final games. There's not a single player on this team currently worth being invested in. If they call up Reichel, I'll try to watch the game but that's about it. The good news is that this is rock bottom. We may not be much better in the standings over the next couple years but there will be reasons to watch as young players start making the team and establishing themselves.

Yep.

The attention I've paid to the half dozen or so BU games to watch Commesso and Greene is much >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>than my focus on all Hawks games I have viewed.

I was wondering slightly differently. If we draft our Toews/Kane next summer and other in the next, then did we trade away our Keith and Seabrook in Debrincat and Dach trades.
I think you hope to have your Keith and Seabrook already in the organization and they come out of the group of Korchinski, Del Mastro, Allan, Vlasic, etc.

Hopefully one of Commesso or Soderblom is the future Crawford.

Reichel has been called up.

Bolded: Wasn't it Stallone who's hand was broken so that he could escape during the game?
