If Philly can at least get a loser point, I'll consider this an outstanding tank night for the Hawks. Sharks are up 6-1 against Anaheim so they're gonna win.

Draft order as of Dec 10th

1.Anaheim
2.CHICAGO
3.San Jose
4.Columbus
5.Arizona
6.Ottawa
7.Philadelphia
8.St. Louis
9.Buffalo
10.Vancouver
11.Washington
12.Calgary
13.Montreal
14.Minnesota
15.Montreal(FLA)
16.NYRangers

So in rounds 1-3 the Blackhawks would be selecting 2nd, 25th(TB), 34th, 57th(TB), 66th and 90th(DAL)...

Adam Fantilli,c, Michigan...we all have read about
Otto Stenberg,f, Frolunda...I attached a write up about him from THN

If last draft and this draft were combined, what would your top 10 look like?
I don’t have a specific top 10, but I don’t think you’d see too many 2022 guys in the top 10. Slafkovsky is way too raw and easily could have used a season overseas, and I like a lot of others just didn’t think Wright was that good.

2023 draft likely sweeps the top 5

1. Connor Bedard
2. Adam Fantili
3. Juraj Slafkovsky
4. David Jiricek
5. Leo Carlsson
6. Matvei Michkov
7. Shane Wright
8. Simon Nemec
9. Dalibor Dvorsky
10. Brayden Yager

But at this point in time, I have limited viewings on this year's guys.

Matvei at 6 is bold.

So including last years draft the Hawks will have 20 picks in the first three rounds thru the 2024 draft!!! Instead of 9... wow! 20 picks! And that’s before they’ve even dealt their pending UFAs from their current roster...Kane Toews Domi Athanasiou JJohnson Khaira Stalock Tinordi and Robinson...

Kevin Korchinski
Frank Nazar
Sam Rinzel
2023 CHI 1st
2023 TB cond.1st
2024 CHI 1st
2024 TB cond.1st
Paul Ludwinski
Ryan Greene
2023 CHI 2nd
2023 TB 2nd
2024 CHI 2nd

Gavin Hayes
Samuel Savoie
Aidan Thompson
2023 CHI 3rd
2023 DAL 3rd
2024 CHI 3rd

Compare that to our last stretch of bad Blackhawk hockey 2004-2006 draft period

2004
*Brent Seabrook

Jack Skille
*Jonathan Toews
*Patrick Kane
*Corey Crawford
Michal Barinka
*Dave Bolland
*Bryan Bickell
Ryan Garlock
Jakub Sindel
Michael Blunden
Dan Bertram
Igor Makarov
Simon Danis-Pepin
Billy Sweatt
Akim Aliu
Adam Berti
Evan Brophey
Tony Lagerstrom
Maxime Tanguay
Josh Unice
first three round picks drafted...

And that’s not to mention comparing the 10 picks in rounds 4-7(which Hawks actually have less picks before the UFA selling off)

Where the previous Hawks drafted Dustin Byfuglien, Lasse Kukkonen, Troy Brouwer, Jake Dowell and Niklas Hjalmarsson!

Would anyone trade the first overall for the second overall and the other team’s 2024 unprotected first?

You’d get Fantili and hopefully two top 5 picks in 2024. Would that be enough or is that a dumb idea?

Mike Milbury...except he’d draft a defencemen in this years draft

I'd strongly consider it.

I guess it all depends on the thought of fantilli and how much separates him and bedard. But I can’t imagine any Gm being given the green light to do that deal.

I’m not advocating for that. Just throwing it out there to see what the value back would need to be to entertain the idea.
Gotcha. I think you would need far more than an unprotected 24 pick to even ponder the thought for more than 3 seconds.

We have to be careful of over-hyping up the next guy - in this case Fantili. Remember when many people thought Eichel could or would be as good as McDavid?

Also, don't hold Edmonton's lack of success with McDavid against Bedard. If you put a generational superstar in Chicago, players will flock to Chicago to play with him. This isn't the cold north of Edmonton.

It’s also that Edmonton’s last two GMs are beyond incompetent. They were/are unable to make trades to improve the team and the drafting has been laughably bad when not picking top 5.

Absolutely not.

Fantilli is fantastic, and if the Hawks are drafting at #2 I'll be thrilled to have him.

But if the Hawks are picking at #1 there's absolutely nothing I'd trade it for.

Only way I would make that trade is 2024 and 25 1st and 2nds. Maybe. Bedard is on the McDavid/Crosby level which is irreplaceable.
