Watching the U17 nations game SWE-FIN last night and are sure about somethings. Swedens best goalies (Noah Erliden and Marcus Gidlöf) is missing. The Swedish team outplayed FIN in the first period and still looses 1-5. The defending when the speed increases is not there. And a bit of competing/grit is not there. Definitely misses some players with that. It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back tonight.

Don't think I have ever seen a Swedish team this vulnerable to counter attacks. Defensive play has been awful 1,5 games in. Then again, it is U17, first game ever for the national team etc. There are some skilled shooters on the Swedish team, though.

Cannot say I have been overly impressed by any player so far, other than maybe Otto Stenberg. Certainly not the goalies.

EDIT: Stenberg's Michigan goal was a beauty

Watching the second U17 game between SWE-FIN right now. The skill level is so much higher on the Swedish team. But hockey is not always on to skill level. That´s why it´s just 4-2 to Sweden at the moment. Better goalie today. Otto Stenberg making Oskar Voullet and Zeb Forsfjäll looking like prospects ... And then Sweden have a number of guys with a lot of body but they are not using it. Why? Playing like it was floorball and have the body of Eric Lindroos. I don´t get that.

Week centers and some defenders. No grit but a lot of skill. This is what you get. I´ve followed this group really good. And it is not the best team. But hopefully the others will get the chance sooner on.

Well, after this game.. I am drawing the conclusion that Otto Stenberg is really, really good. Superb hockey sense, hands, passing ability etc. Looking forward to watching him play this season

Yes. Otto is good. Maybe our best prospect. And making others look good. But many others are not there. he is not the biggest but he has the grit. And the skill. Many of our bigger players have some skill but no grit. a lot of skill skating around but not so much eager. And i knew that. This is not the team. This group should not lose one period, or one game against the FIN.

Its only Canadian boy who can be generational or what does Michkov have to do? Scoring at PPG in KHL as an 16-17 years old? Some try really hard to downgrade Michovs accomplishment so far:huh:
Imagine lecturing someone while at the same time using facts that are entirely incorrect.

For those who watched the games, could you share your thoughts on Jesse Kiiskinen? He was #25 on the Finnish team.

I did not follow him hard but he was definitely one the FIN best player. Scoring at least two goals. But the FIN team are not as skilled as SWE. But works harder and had better goalies.

Thanks. How would you rate his skating compared to the other players in that tournament(both Finns and Swedes).

My take on the above list. I’ll stick to the Americans to keep it more focused.

Stramel is way too low. I’d be shocked if he’s not top 10. I think there’s a pretty good chance he’s top 5, and might be the best prospect in the draft right now outside of the top two, although that’s only for the players whose games I know. 6’4, 200+ centers who can skate and have skill don’t go outside the top 10.

It’s not bad otherwise. I would however say that Shaugabay should be there instead of Whitelaw. He’s bigger/more talented.

Liked him at the HGC. Though, I thought Maxim Strbak as an underager at the tournament was just as good as him and Strbak is not on the list.

And I thought Brzustewicz going head to head against Nemec played him even. These types of comparisons often aren't that relevant.
