Leonard's also one of the stronger skaters of the usual top 10 candidates in this draft. The Habs could certainly use some speed up front.

Suzuki and Caufield are average skaters. Some of our forward prospects are below average (Roy, Kidney etc). Dach and Slaf are probably the two best skating forwards of our young core (I'm not including Anderson) and Mesar might be the best skating forward in the system.

Mesar is definitely the best skater in our system. Kid is a beautiful skater.

When you so openly root against a a prospect don’t expect others not to notice
LOL! I did mention "just in case". It would be stupid to think this isn't out of the realm of possibility. You had no idea Wright would slide last year.

There's a lot of non-hockey uncertainty at play in this investment.

Okay you've convinced me you're being genuine and looking out for the Russian prospect's best interests. Good stuff, thank you man.

Leonard just makes so much sense and Mitch Brown/David St-Louis reiterated on last nights YouTube broadcast that they see what Leonard does fitting so well with what MSL likes to do.
Leonard is definitely that player when people look back in 5 years will say, we should've had him higher. Pro game. But if any of the top 5 picks is available, especially michkov l, is available, he'd be relegated to my 2nd choice

Watched the podcast earlier. I thought a source of his said Ducks could take Michkov not that they are taking Michkov
I looked at the draft rankings and also concluded they could take Michkov, since he will be available when they pick at #2.

One concern I had with Leonard, and why I preferred Dvorsky, is the lack of a left handed shooter for the PP. Dvorsky would fit our 1st unit PP like a glove while Leonard probably plays 2nd unit.

But perhaps Joshua Roy can be that LH shot for the PP.

Yeah, feels weird to have so many right handed shots in our potential top 6.. we will have the market cornered. I think the handedness piece is off-set by Leonards skating, which is another need in the top 6.

5on5 it’s not much of an issue especially if we get PLD.

But fitting all these righty’s onto a single PP unit will be impossible

Yeah it's a challenge.. I think Leonard would play the Oshie bumper spot.. and you have Caufield in his one-timer office.. but the issue then becomes Suzuki vs. Dach. I think it depends on which of them has the bigger PK duties, you wanna manage their ice-time. After that, you'd likely have Hutson and Slafkovsky as your left hand shots..

I'm on that train, but I'm also assuming Bedard, Carlsson and Fantilli are drafted and the Habs aren't that interested in Michkov.

It sucks, but Leonard is no slouch offensively, not as good as Michkov, but Leonard brings a lot more to the table.

I wouldn't be shocked at Michkov being a 100+ point player and Leonard being a 70-80 guy.

Leonard is more likely to be the guy that drags your team through the playoffs than Michkov is, or honestly even Carlsson from what I've seen.

Let's assuming Slafkovsky improves and fills out. Have a line of Slaf, Dach and Leonard and tell me that line isn't going to drive teams mad game in and game out.

Think Slafkovsky plays that spot over Leonard. Suzuki, Caufield, Dach and Hutson appear like locks.

I would see those guys getting split up, but I think as soon as you've added Slafkovsky, Dach and Leonard to your top 6, the size of your top 6 no longer becomes a question mark.

There is something very enticing about a skilled but nasty, physical bunch of Montreal Canadiens.

Leonard would certainly fit beautifully with Slaf and Dach on paper.

Michkov is one of the premier gamers in the world, he literally lead Russia to multiple gold medal.

I dont know where that myth started that Michkov was gonna be a regular season player but can we end it right now?

If you don't hit everything that moves, you aren't effective in the playoffs. That's why Danny Briere and Patrick Kane could never step their game up when it mattered

The perception that the 2 and a half centimeters between Leonard and Michkov would make one a playoff beast and a playoff bust is so unscientific its giving me deep state theory vibes

THERE'S TUNNELS DOWN THERE TIMMY, I TELLS YA!
