The Honzek with the Florida pick dream is dead. Stick a fork in it, it's done. If you want to be a size queen at the end of the first it's Halttunen, Wahlberg, or Edström.

Wright had an even better U18 at a younger age, so I don’t buy it. Dvorsky’s playoffs were atrocious.
Wright played on a stacked TC squad with Connor Bedard there, Dvorsky was basically alone with Strbak on D. Kid struggled a bit as a 17 yrs old in a men league, had no issue in J20 where he produced at a 2 PPG pace. Still, its not unusual for draft eligible players to struggle against men.

Stacked or not, he was 16.

Slafkovsky didn’t struggle against men, in fact he welcomed the challenge. Dvorsky only welcomes challenges from children smaller than him.

Picking a safe, two-way centre with average skating in the top 5 of this draft is asinine. He’s not any better than Suzuki or Dach. At least not enough for it to be worth a 5th overall pick.

Safe has gotten this franchise nowhere for 30 years. Just boring ass hockey to watch.

If Carlsson looks good playing with Raymond at the world championships and he falls to Montreal at 5th, I wonder if there's any world where Detroit would try to trade 9th+18th for 5th.

I guess Montreal would have to view Carlsson as not much better than the rest of the pack from 6-10.

They can try all they want, if Carlsson is there at 5, they would need to give us Seider to make it works.

If Carlsson is there they better f***ing pick him

I know there's no chance of it happening, but hypothetically if Carlsson and Raymond look dominant together at the world championship and Carlsson falls to us, would you do 5th overall for Seider 1 for 1?

I personally wouldnt. Carlsson, if developped properly, is gonna ge a top 15 C in the NHL, with size, skill and grit.

What hold Dvorsky back a bit this year against men was his skating, not his compete or physical game.

On a hockey standpoint, I would pick Michkov like everyone, but there is a reality going on surpassing the game itself.

Dvorsky projects as a 1b center, unlike Wright, he uses his body greatly in all situations, isnt effraid to carry the puck and drive the play, plays a great inside game. He is a puck possession center, what Wright isnt. Like it or not, he is likely our best option with Reinbacher and would allow us to keep building a big strong puck possession team made for the playoffs.

I personally would do it and go get Dubois. But I would be extremely excited to also draft Carlsson. Both he and Seider fill an enormous need, which is big no.1 center and big no.1D.

Carlsson is out of reach, as he should tbh.

One of CBJ's top staffer is Sweden's GM, and on the off-chance that they pass on him (which I don't see) then SJS has gone with Swedes as their last two 1st rounders so I just don't see them not pick him.
