HF Habs: 2023 NHL Draft part 2

Smith is similar to Cooley, Slaf, Nazar and Wright and behind the two Ds.

I do have Smith at 8th though, I'd say Wood is also similar to these guys. Benson and Reinbacher are 1st overall in 2022 that Im pretty certain.

The real question is, is Dvorsky a better center than Poehling ?
Is Reinbacher as good as Josh Brook???

Its completely hilarious to me that Benson dropped 3 spots while he did nothing. He literally just didn't get to play. He got injured, lmao.

How crazy is that ? I love Leonard, but that Leonard jumped ahead of him on the list is complete insanity.

I'm confident that if his team goes to the Memorial Cup, he will comeback in the discussion for #5 oa quickly. A lot are gonna watch that tournament and he's gonna have the recent bias at his turn

Recency bias, and most people are way too reactive.

Tournaments like the Hlinka and the U18 barely holds any weight in the grand scheme of things in my opinion.

Imagine having a goal scorer like Caufield, and being able to draft a player who is arguably an even better goal scorer. That's where we're at, boiz.
From everything I've seen of him I'd feel safe betting his floor is what Caufield has shown this year (~40 goal, 65 point guy). And that's assuming he stagnates and his development goes terrible. His ceiling on the other hand is likely a franchise winger.

If Hughes passes on him then he better have a hand written letter from Michkov saying he's never coming over lol.

It would be a lot of fun seeing them battle it out to see who can score more goals for us. Everything that Caufield has going for him, Michkov has just a little bit more. We waited 2 years for Caufield, and then a little bit more for him to shine. We can wait for Michkov.

Don't think the problem is only waiting for 3 years with Michkov. If it was only that, we will probably need to wait 3 years before he can have an impact so it doesn't change anything

The draft has risks. You take players like Michkov, end of story. In normal conditions, you only get the opportunity with the first overall pick.

Don't get me wrong, I would take Michkov but it doesn't seem like the Habs will so I try to forget him. I just try to understand why they would't take him in there perspective.

Based on what?

I think Hughes showed openness yesterday.

We also took Slaf over Wright and against the unanimity of the fan base. Molson signed on for Mailloux. They dont f***ing care.

If Michkov is their guy and is there at 4, he is our.

Im not sure, Bensons been looking slower than usual and he seems to not be moving as much as he usually is. Pretty sure the injury is still bothering him a bit, we'll see!

Based on Stephane Leroux (probably the most connected journalist for Habs scouting staff) report saying from what he knows Habs won't take that risk

Hughes wasn't going to say that Michkov is a no draft yesterday, you don't show up your draft plan in the media. Just look at the difference between how Mike Grier respond and Kent Hughes respond. For Grier it was a straight: I don't mind waiting for Michkov, Hughes was skating a lot when he was answering that question

Apparently Carlsson stutter.

Thats the kind of thing that could turn off a pseudo-alpha GM and make him drop.

He is 4th in McKenzie ranking. We need CBJ to reach Smith and SJ to take Michkov.
Jarmo and Mike Grier are more open minded GM though. Maybe if NYI by exemple was before us

If SJS scouts think Michkov is the 2 or 3 best prospect in the draft, CBJ can't take both Smith and Carlsson.

We just need Michkov to be ahead of whoever CBJ doesn't pick.

You are right. I forgot Leroux comments.

Hope SJ pick Michkov before us and CBJ pick Smith.

Carlsson would be the absolute homerun pick.
