Guhle-Seider pairing wouldn't be fair for the Atlantic Division in a few years
In two years, that pair would be dominant imo.

To be honest, i would only do Seider for Carlsson if we get Dubois.

The point is if we get Seider, our D is set for a decade with Guhle, Hutson, Mailloux, Barron, Jackeye, Engstrom, etc. And if we get Dubois, while not having an elite 1C, our Center line would still be strong with PLD, Suzuki and Dach (and maybe Beck).

I think right now a no.1 RHD is much more of a rarety than a no.1 center in the NHL. That's why i would do it.

But at that point, it comes down to anyone's evaluation of both players. I agree Carlsson is a possible top 15 center in this league, but not a guarantee. I think the same about Seider but i understand some don't.

God I want Carlsson so f***ing bad
For me he is the number 2 pick of this draft.

Carlsson is out of reach, as he should tbh.

One of CBJ's top staffer is Sweden's GM, and on the off-chance that they pass on him (which I don't see) then SJS has gone with Swedes as their last two 1st rounders so I just don't see them not pick him.
Hopefully he's in that kekalainen mindset about his own country men

Well my favorite prospect in this draft was Carlsson and I also do not think we get to pick this guy. Perhaps I should watch a bit if Will Smith to warm up to the idea of drafting him. However if the habs management's see Carlsson as there guy too.. I would not mind seeing him them swing for the fence in order to acquire him. What would it be to move up? Not sure but would like to see it. The idea of a 1-2-3 punch of Dach, Suzuki and Carlsson is really nice.

Real talk, Carlsson won't be there at 5.

All top 4 teams need a center. Maybe he "drops" from 3 to 4 if CLB gets cute with Smith, but that's it.
I agree but I have a tiny bit of copium around the idea that the Sharks are essentially locked in to another 3 years of tanking and might be convinced to swing for the fences on Michkov with the knowledge they'll have another 3 high picks coming up to get a center in a future draft.

The Sharks need a C prospect but they need prospects everywhere. Their top 2 prospects right now are Eklund and Mukhamadullin, they're still a long long way away. I still think they'll just take Carlsson but there's a plausible line of reasoning that would encourage them to go Michkov.

Jarmo passed on Puujujarvi when he was consensus number 3 pick in 2016. I don’t think he cares that the pro scout is the GM of team Sweden enough to make him take Carlsson just because of that. He also went way off the board with Chinakhov so he doesn’t have any predictable trend

The AGM is director of pro scouting for CBS. All though they will take his opinion for sure, he's not the one making decision at the draft table

I feel like alot will depend on the world championships. Smith raised his stock heavily at the U18s, if Carlsson has a lackluster tournament then I could see Smith edging him out on some lists.

We never know even if I would be surprise too

CBS seem to really like Will Smith and SJ could take the Michkov gamble

I didn't love Hughes tone when speaking of Michkov, I just don't see them taking him.
I really think it's between Leonard, Reinbacher, Dvorsky and Benson.

Come on TT, you own us one for 10 years of bad drafting

Take Will Smith !
I mean, they likely will, but then SJ takes Carlsson...no matter what we are stuck with the Michkov or everyone else debate.

Jarmo loves to go wild or to reach sometimes but Carlsson is a need and he's got a foot in the door already.

We've seen crazy stuff in the past but really, Carlsson at 5 is just some wishful thinking.

I do think SJ plan to take the Michkov gamble, he make way to much sense for them.

Yes, they 100% should draft Carlsson. Just hopping

Where does the hivemind here think Smith would have been picked last year ?
It’s interesting. Comparing Cooley to Smith, I know Smith has the edge production wise, but Cooley probably edges Smith traits wise (comparable skill levels, but Cooley definitely gets the edge for skating and compete level). The argument for Smith is his hockey sense is pretty unreal. I think he and Dvorsky are roughly the same tier as the top guys last year.

If the Michkov Russian factor stuff all ends up to be a bunch of smoke screen BS, he goes top 4 for sure. And if you combine that with the possibility that Columbus takes Smith at 3 regardless, there is an outside chance Carlsson falls to 5. Stranger things have happened, and this class is just that deep where it’s possible.

Smith is similar to Cooley, Slaf, Nazar and Wright and behind the two Ds.

I do have Smith at 8th though, I'd say Wood is also similar to these guys. Benson and Reinbacher are 1st overall in 2022 that Im pretty certain.

The real question is, is Dvorsky a better center than Poehling ?
