Did a little mock draft using a Draft Simulator. Forgot about this site...used it a ton last year.

I picked the top 4 as....

San Jose - Smith

Every other pick except ours were selected by the simulator. Here is what I ended up with.

Danault wasn't half the skater he is now at 17
Dvorsky is more tenacious than Danault at the same age by a mile, Danault wasn't stopping the top line at the WJC at 17.

I've watch almost every Danault games when he was in the QMJHL since he played in my hometown and he was always a really good skater and good defensive player. He made the team at 16 for his defensive qualities in team a that was contending.

His offensive upside where questionnable though when he was drafted

I've watch almost every Danault games when he was in the QMJHL since he played in my hometown and he was always a really good skater and good defensive player. He made the team at 16 for his defensive qualities in team a that was contending.

My point is Dvorsky measurement stick for skating is not the Q. He would look fast in the Q as well.

I'm usually against the need picks...except for goalies. Find the right pick to do so. And my favorite this year is Jacob Fowler as far as the possibility to find a gem while not having to use the highest of draft pick.

Hard case he's productive but he's so weak that it's hard to know what he will be like if he's strong

He's not such an under the radar guy anymore, sadly. Early second round is the last chance we'll get at him.

Just a thought, but I feel the is almost no chance we end up with Michkov. All teams will have similar info in relation to the risk of drafting him. If San Jose deems him to risky there is a very high chance we do too. If he is not deemed a risky pick, he will not be available.

Obviously that’s oversimplified, but I feel like its the likeliest scenarios.
