I would not count on it. Specifically Gajan said: "Three months after World juniors, goalie scout of Montreal came to watch my practice and game. In an interview, he started saying numbers of USA players from WJC and asking me if I know who they are and if they shoot left or right. I found it pretty comic." As I understood from the context, he found that question little bit bizarre. Obviously, Habs are looking for a goalie with a little bit of autism :)
He also said he is in very close contact with Chicago then NSH, ARI, LAK, NJD.

Doesn't really mean anything, although Chicago, Arizona & LAK definitely need goaltending prospects. Can see Chicago taking him in 2nd round they have 4 picks there; whereas Montreal probably doesn't take him before 3rd round.

I forgot to mention this, but someone else might have.

Danny Nelson was a d not too long ago and he got switched for forward recently.

It's easier to make that transition from D to forward, but there might be some untapped forward potential there once he gets a few more years under his belt.

Imo would be a nice pick.

Not really bizarre at all. Clearly they want to know his level of preparation, if on the ice he is doing more than just reacting.

So yeah might not take the overage goalie who doesn't know and thinks it's weird to know the handedness of your opponents.
Sure, I understand the point of that question, but in this case the execution is really weird.
- They played ONE game vs USA in a short tournament how are you supposed to remember the numbers of those players three months later?
- It is known that during the tournament, Gajan was ill and spend whole time between the games with fever. He said he does not remember a lot from those games, because he was in some strange euphoria.
Clearly, scout should ask a question like: Who is the tougest opponent in NAHL? Who are their best players, what are their numbers and whether they shoot right or left? That would make sense.

Found Gajan's burner account.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being you're running in the streets naked and dancing and 1 being you've given yourself a concussion from smacking your head against the wall in anger, how happy would you be coming out of the 1st in these past 2 years with:

Reinbacher/Hrabal
Slaf/Mesar
Around 3. Could be a solid balanced team eventually but I'd be disappointed by the lack of starpower. If I compare to the picks I would've/would make;

2022: Nemec & Lambert
2023: Michkov/Benson & Willander/Hrabal/Sawchyn

If you’re asking the question, you know there’s a problem there…

It would be hard to swallow. Beck Hutson are there so that needs to be considered but it would be up to Hugo to do more Dach trades to fill the gaps if the four mentioned are « it ». I’ll give you a polite 5.5 for now, it’s hard to get a real grip as these are young and unfinished products.

Excitement wise (which means ZERO in the grand scheme of things), it’s not moving the needle.

That is a 5, I feel the same way about Reinbacher that I felt about Mesar, great player but there are player I like better…
Hrabal I was pretty high on him to start the year, but now I’m not even sure we should even be picking a goalie before the 3rd round…

How does he not go 1st? Cooley before? No. Nemec and Jiricek are on par with Reinbacher from what I gather. That leaves Slaf. My guess is that teams prefer a more known quantity in Smith coming in from an A+ program in USNDP. It’s measurable, Slaf was hard to project coming in from reduced playing time in Finland and weird ass teams in OG and WC.

How does being ahead of Cooley at WJC-U18 make him #1?
Slaf was a ppg in the OG (MVP) and WC…
No way Slaf goes ahead of Smith

Smith had 127 points in 60 games thats x2 the points

at WJC he had 20 points in 7 games thats almost x3 the points

Will is so much more talented then Juraj theres good chances he goes #3 on a much better draft filled with elite and franchise players

Yeah, as a goalie I would rarely know the numbers of the guys I played against. Afterall, they face you when they are attacking.

I would most definitely know their handedness and would recognize them through skating/stickhandling style more than anything.
