Yeah i know its early but 2022 draft discussion started pretty quickly too last year.
So far its #1 Bedard and #2 Mitchkov but after that what are players you are interested in for the Ducks ?
I don't see Bedard falling like Wright did at all. Who will be this years Slaf and Cooley ?

Blanket warning to everyone - the season is over, the active tanking is over, and everyone needs to remember how to get along.

Polite discussions of different viewpoints is fine. Assertions as to who is a good fan, who is a bad fan, and most particularly trolling behavior is going to result in thread bans and warnings. The vast majority of posters here are great about this. There are a few of you, on both sides of this issue, who are trying to start things, and I would advise you to carefully consider if that snarky comment you just made is worth being your last post in a thread. I would advise the folks who think that making an even snarkier response to make that same assessment. Neither of your posts will be seen by anyone else for long regardless.

It is perfectly fine to not understand how anyone could root for the team to lose. It is perfectly fine to not understand how losing has strong benefits to the franchise king term. There are gaping holes in BOTH positions, that may be discussed and debated…POLITELY.

We are all Ducks fans. Time to remember that and stop being at each other’s throats.

In his latest draft mailbag, Wheeler was asked several questions regarding his previous comments on Will Smith. He reiterated that he can picture Smith being taken in the top 3-4 and referred to the odds of him going ahead of Carlsson as "small to medium".

He does see Bedard - Fantilli - Carlsson - Smith ending up the top four in that order, and can picture Michkov falling to the 6-8 range but not out of the top 10.

He's fully expecting Fantilli in the NHL next year and believes that Michigan don't anticipate him returning. Believes he is the better prospect than Michkov even with context removed, and has him very similarly rated to Eichel.

When asked about players outside the top 10 who he feels confident in becoming good NHL players, he named Danielson, Honzek and Willander, but added that he could see the first two sneaking into the top 10.

Don't think there's any way Michkov drops to 6-8, that would be ludicrous.

Pronman's recent list (who makes some odd leaps at times) has Bedard Tier 1, Fantilli/Michkov Tier 2, and Carlsson/Smith at Tier 3. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we drop to 3OA and grab Michkov, depending on how PV sees the rebuild going and how ballsy he wants to get.

I’m completely open to drafting Michkov, but Verbeek better have a f***ing solid plan for those 3 years. If we have 3 more seasons like this he won’t even be around to greet Michkov when he arrives at LAX.

Yeah, any pick we get in the top three isn't going to single-handedly fix this team whether they play in the NHL next year or not.

Best case scenario next season is probably hovering around .500, and that's if many, many things go well. Another bottom three finish though would be awful for the morale of this group and continue the losing culture, which is the only thing most kids on the team have experienced so far.

I really want Fantilli if we don't get Bedard.
Yup. I’d obviously be disappointed if we don’t get the 1st pick, but I’d be distraught if we ended up at #3. And I know that’s me being dramatic since we still have great options at that spot, but I just feel strongly about the top 2.

My feelings keep shifting on everyone.

Like I'm somewhat open again to do the idea of Michkov given he could easily be the second best player in this draft (first if things go badly with Bedard) but I'm still nervous about the potential risks.

Then I keep flip flopping on Fantilli and Carlsson. If Fantilli's game matures he could be dynamite while Carlsson'a game is already mature he just needs that adaptation to the speed of the NHL and how to maintain his smart decision making and skilled hands in a higher paced-lower space league.

And then the closer we get to the lottery the more I'm getting this feeling that, yeah, even if we're locked in to get a top tier prospect, man would it be a shame to miss out on Bedard.

Just want the whole thing over with.

Already preparing for Carlsson or Michkov given our luck...but I did roll an interesting result on the simulator:

If Washington did end up moving up to #2, Michkov becomes much more likely...

Best prospect since Kariya... Getzlaf and Perry weren't supposed to be Getzlaf and Perry when they were drafted :D
i'd say best prospect since tverdovsky, who was getting bobby orr comparisons when he was drafted. or even bobby ryan, who was also taken at #2 like tverdovsky was
