Yeah i know its early but 2022 draft discussion started pretty quickly too last year.
So far its #1 Bedard and #2 Mitchkov but after that what are players you are interested in for the Ducks ?
I don't see Bedard falling like Wright did at all. Who will be this years Slaf and Cooley ?

Blanket warning to everyone - the season is over, the active tanking is over, and everyone needs to remember how to get along.

Polite discussions of different viewpoints is fine. Assertions as to who is a good fan, who is a bad fan, and most particularly trolling behavior is going to result in thread bans and warnings. The vast majority of posters here are great about this. There are a few of you, on both sides of this issue, who are trying to start things, and I would advise you to carefully consider if that snarky comment you just made is worth being your last post in a thread. I would advise the folks who think that making an even snarkier response to make that same assessment. Neither of your posts will be seen by anyone else for long regardless.

It is perfectly fine to not understand how anyone could root for the team to lose. It is perfectly fine to not understand how losing has strong benefits to the franchise king term. There are gaping holes in BOTH positions, that may be discussed and debated…POLITELY.

We are all Ducks fans. Time to remember that and stop being at each other’s throats.

I have a feeling if we get Bedard, there will be an imbalance of style in our top 6. It will depend on the other two players (After Mac, Zegras, Terry, Bedard), but I think it may just force our hand a bit.

Now Bedard is faster than everyone else, so maybe not, but for some reason i dont know if i see all of those 4 together. Adding Pastujov makes it even worse.

Of course there are worse places to be, I just think there will be a large trade in the next couple years.

Fantilli seems like more of a shoot-first guy as well. we would have to accommodate that somehow probably if we want to get the most out of him. (Terry or move Zegs to the wing)

Carlsson seems like a playmaker and Bedard just seems like an all around dynamo who will produce no matter what.

We should be careful not to get our hopes up on Fantilli or Bedard. Statistically speaking we have the highest chance of picking third, which means we're most likely choosing between Carlsson or Michkov.

Yes but the chances of picking 1 OR 2 is closer to picking third. Like 45 to 55. Makes you feel a lot better about it haha.

I think the whole “he slows the game down” thing is a bit overrated on this sub-forum due to us being spoiled by Getzlaf. Not many guys play that style and most of the current stars(except for maybe Kucherov and Draisaitl) don’t play like that.

I don’t think Fantilli’s style of looking to beat defenders with speed is a negative. That’s what MacKinnon is always looking to do

Yeah I think stylistically Carlsson or Fantilli fit a need better, but if you get that #1 pick you grab Bedard and shuffle the deck around to work around him.
Agreed. Fantilli/Carlsson styles of play would fit us perfectly. Bedard blows everyone out of the water with individual skill, but he's small in stature altho he's feisty.

Yeah exactly. Carlsson and Fantilli are pretty neck and neck. Both of them are franchise level potential players.

To me Fantilli is ahead, he seems more well-rounded. Carlsson is more offense-oriented and less of a two-way player, IMO, which is maybe a result of his inferior skating.

I still think they are very close. I do agree that Fantilli is a better all around player, and Carlsson has the higher offensive potential. He’s weaving in and out of defenders to make plays and is playing against men in his league. I see him making an easier transition to the NHL.

I just want folks to not be upset if we fall to Carlsson he could easily go 1st or 2nd OA in most other drafts.

I actually lean Carlsson slightly but could be because I’m overly worried about the college thing lol. I’m pretty sure a prospect of Fantilli’s calibre isn’t gonna want to wait 4 years to play in the NHL.

Based on what Verbeek has said over the past year since he was hired, it would seem that Fantilli would be his preference.

Definitely won't be upset at all, in fact I might prefer Carlsson because of the offense thing. He also might be a guy who makes players around him better, whereas that might not be the hallmark aspect of Fantilli's game. Heck, Bedard seems like more of a shooter as well. No matter what, we're gonna get a great young forward, which is exactly what this org. needed.

Carlsson may go 2nd with Fantilli 3rd. Here is a quote from Bob McKenzies mid seasons ranking.

"Of the 10 scouts surveyed, Fantilli received four No. 2 votes, compared to three each for Carlsson and Michkov. Fantilli had five third-place votes and one fourth-place vote; Carlsson had five third-place votes and two fourth-place votes; and Michkov had seven fourth-place votes."

I think Carlsson has a lot of comparison to Getzlaf. Throw him with Terry and Mac. He can play C or LW. Expect him to start on wing at the NHL level like Mac did. Can maybe run... Carlsson - McTavish - Terry

When all is said and done in a year or two, if we do draft Fantilli or Carlsson, expect someone to go to wing, and think it could be Zegras.

So assuming whoever we draft is starting in the NHL next season and will be on the wing, Fantilli and Carlsson would likely be LW and Bedard would be RW? That would leave Strome and Vatrano fighting for the other RW spot if we get a LW and and Vatrano, Nesterenko, Comtois (IF re-signed), and Jones fighting for the other LW spot if we get Bedard

Probably will try to come to the prospect camp thing that they usually have after the draft regardless of who they pick lol. I know it's been open to the public in the past, although it might not be every time. i'd think with the excitement around this draft they would open it up to everyone though, haha. hopefully they release that info in the next couple months.

I am a huge fan of playing wingers on their off-wing if they have a good shot. Bedard should be played on the left wing, if we were to pick #1. His shot is something else and having him coming in from the left wing with his incredible toe drag release would fool 95% of the NHL's goaltenders time and again, as he literally is good enough to pick his spot and follow through on this within a fraction of a second.

Especially since he limits his own strengths by having to play center and is, additionally, abysmal at the dots.

I’d keep Carlsson on the wing. He’s like Rantanen imo but I think his shot and skating are a couple notches worse. Not saying he can’t get there, just that I would think of him more as a Rantanen-lite. Fantilli reminds me a bit of Toews, but I think more physically gifted.
