Yeah i know its early but 2022 draft discussion started pretty quickly too last year.
So far its #1 Bedard and #2 Mitchkov but after that what are players you are interested in for the Ducks ?
I don't see Bedard falling like Wright did at all. Who will be this years Slaf and Cooley ?

Blanket warning to everyone - the season is over, the active tanking is over, and everyone needs to remember how to get along.

Polite discussions of different viewpoints is fine. Assertions as to who is a good fan, who is a bad fan, and most particularly trolling behavior is going to result in thread bans and warnings. The vast majority of posters here are great about this. There are a few of you, on both sides of this issue, who are trying to start things, and I would advise you to carefully consider if that snarky comment you just made is worth being your last post in a thread. I would advise the folks who think that making an even snarkier response to make that same assessment. Neither of your posts will be seen by anyone else for long regardless.

It is perfectly fine to not understand how anyone could root for the team to lose. It is perfectly fine to not understand how losing has strong benefits to the franchise king term. There are gaping holes in BOTH positions, that may be discussed and debated…POLITELY.

We are all Ducks fans. Time to remember that and stop being at each other’s throats.

NHL Records this is one resource. Not sure if you were looking for something different

I'm just very happy to not have finished 2nd overall! I've used that lottery records to know that since the multi-draw lottery system stared in 2016, the 2nd overall has never won the lottery or stayed at 2nd overall. That's seven years and counting!

I think the lottery odds changed 2 years ago, both years since the last place team has kept 1st overall.

2021 reduced the draw from three to two. That's huge! #1 retained the #1 pick.

2022 limited how high a team jump to only 10 spots. The odds for picks 12-16 technically belong to the 1st pick overall since it none of the picks 12-16 cannot win the lottery, everything stays as is.
=========

Not only did we secure a top-3 pick in the draft, but we secured the first pick of every round, except for Rd 7. We can continue to try to swing for the fences for a potential top-6 scorer in the 2nd round. We should be looking who to get with our own 2nd round pick.

A month or two ago I decided to try to manifest Bedard as a Duck by acquiring him in a game mode in the NHL PS5 game (HUT). He’s been playing next to MacT for a while now. Still rationally setting myself up for the most likely outcome, but the manifestation couldn’t have gone much better up to this point. :D

Yeah, I'm gonna mentally prepare myself for 3rd OV (a most likely outcome) by checking out Carlsson, but also will watch more tape on Fantilli and Bedard in case we get lucky with a higher pick. Heck, even gonna check out Mitchkov.

PS
Carlsson seems to have joined their national team: https://swehockey.se/media/3gjheveh/tre-kronor-roster-swe-nor-april-2023.pdf
I wonder if he'd play in the Worlds.

which one of those defensive prospects can currently help this team? If we are going by what Verbeek says, all of them will be ‘over-seasoning’ in the minors. unless he can swing on some UFAs to join, next season will probably mirror this one
Well, it isn’t realistic to talk about helping the team immediately. We are quite literally at the lowest point in a rebuild. Next season is still going to be painful, BUT the future is bright. We DO have reason for optimism in our defensive pipeline. We SHOULD be happy we are getting a top 3 pick as opposed to a ~6th overall pick. It isn’t going to happen overnight.

One Bedard, please!

I won't be upset with any of Fantilli, Carlsson, or Michkov. Michkov obviously has a lot of non-hockey-related question marks but if we pick him I'll be on board.

No matter what, we should be coming away with a #1 overall quality prospect in a lot of drafts but I think it's time the Ducks had their first-ever 1st overall pick.

Hello everyone!
I haven’t been on here in years because I was not able to sign in. FINALLY CRACKED IT YESTERDAY THO! That said, although the chance of getting BEDARD is crazy, I can’t help but finally feel sad that this is where we are now as a franchise.
On that note, I’m feeling negative about our chances to get him. I get that the top 3 are all wicked but are we still kinda screwed if Bedard isn’t the guy we get? I mean obviously we need a lot of improvements but I feel the difference between 1 and 2 could be years. ITS GREAT TO BE BACK!

will it be painful? it depends on PV. With a trade or two, next year can be tough, but not painful.

Hopefully we don't ever have to cheer for losing again. Obviously we all want Bedard but atleast we should be getting a franchise cornerstone even if it's not him

If folks are worried about dropping, I’d watch some Fantilli and Carlsson highlights. These guys are closer than people think.

I also think Bedard, Fantilli, or Carlsson will be able to hit the NHL as early as next season.

I’m ecstatic right now we are guaranteed one of these guy.

Agreed. Though there's an outside shot that we take Michkov in either of those spots.

While I think Michkov is a tremendous talent and would be thrilled to watch him in Anaheim, I don't think it's the right move for this team because I think we already have quite a few good/great pieces and should start looking to compete sooner and Michkov isn't coming over for a few years.

I think Michkov fits better for a team like Chicago or San Jose, who are still a long way away.

I think Fantilli and Carlsson fit our needs better. Two C/W with size and a ton of skill.

Also was going to point out about the window as well. We are ahead in our rebuild other teams in the bottom are just starting.

I would definitely prefer Fantilli or Carlsson to Michkov, due to the reason we've both laid out but we also desperately need pure goalscorers.

That's why if we don't win the Bedard lotto, I'm really hoping we only drop one spot since Fantilli checks all the boxes.

Seems different this year though. Teemu was even manifesting it earlier this season. Wonder how much HOF players can push the dial in our favor. Realistically there’s some form of draft lottery “ shenanigans “ that go on behind doors *cough cough Edmonton
