Yeah i know its early but 2022 draft discussion started pretty quickly too last year.
So far its #1 Bedard and #2 Mitchkov but after that what are players you are interested in for the Ducks ?
I don't see Bedard falling like Wright did at all. Who will be this years Slaf and Cooley ?

Blanket warning to everyone - the season is over, the active tanking is over, and everyone needs to remember how to get along.

Polite discussions of different viewpoints is fine. Assertions as to who is a good fan, who is a bad fan, and most particularly trolling behavior is going to result in thread bans and warnings. The vast majority of posters here are great about this. There are a few of you, on both sides of this issue, who are trying to start things, and I would advise you to carefully consider if that snarky comment you just made is worth being your last post in a thread. I would advise the folks who think that making an even snarkier response to make that same assessment. Neither of your posts will be seen by anyone else for long regardless.

It is perfectly fine to not understand how anyone could root for the team to lose. It is perfectly fine to not understand how losing has strong benefits to the franchise king term. There are gaping holes in BOTH positions, that may be discussed and debated…POLITELY.

We are all Ducks fans. Time to remember that and stop being at each other’s throats.

Luneau is another one that might turn out pretty good.
With Mintyukov, Drysdale, Zellweger, Luneau, Hinds, LaCombe, Moore, Warren, Helleson there will be a crowded D eventually and some of the lesser ones may be traded or some simply don't pan out.

Our forward prospect pool took a hit with how bad San Diego Gulls were with Perreault and Tracey.
as long as verbeek knows what he’s doing the depth of the prospect pool shouldn’t matter all that much imo. Signing depth veterans to good deals and trading futures to when the time comes can fill out the roster quite nicely.

We have an accumulative 1st overall lottery win percentage of 83.1% over the years since 1995. Add in our likely 3rd last placing this year and we are sitting at 94.6%.

Statistically a team should win first overall once every 100% lottery odds accumulation. Win it before 100% and you are luckier than the average team. Win it with over 100% and you are unluckier. This tells us that if we win it this year then we are statistically luckier than the average team at winning 1st overall.

Obviously this doesn't happen perfectly but gives an idea that we are getting close to the time where our number should be called statistically unless we are truly unlucky.
With our final standings and lottery odds we are now at 108.6% accumulative lottery odds since 1995. This means we are due to win 1st overall!

Now is the time for our luck to balance out and give us Bedard. At this point in our franchise history its actually fair to give us #1.

Honest question on my side: I assume Michkov will (have to?) come over to North America for the pre-draft interviews, as they are mandatory for all players listed in the top 30 or so, right?

If we were to have #2 or #3, I'd probably make sure Michkov "disappears" after the interview and immediately defects to the US embassy for seeking asylum due to being persecuted in Russia. Since his father just died a few weeks ago under mysterious circumstances, that might actually leverage in the hearing process.

Yes, I know this is highly unlikely and also borderline questionable thinking, but still.

Wild idea, yeah. I don't think it's realistic. Especially because what about the rest of his family? There are plenty ways to hurt a man, we all know windows are open too wide in Russia.

Regime change might help but it's probably not close.

This draft is so crazy for me and this is just my very personal take. I think Michkov ends up being the most spectacular player of this draft but due to his situation to take him is a major risk. And while it is so insane what Bedard did, both Fantilli and Carlsson are somehow more intriguing to me due to the size/skill/skating package. On the other hand Bedard trashed the WHL, has a great shot and is somehow proven he can play well with McT.

As long as we pick top 3 we will get a hell of a player.

Hopefully we don't ever have to cheer for losing again. Obviously we all want Bedard but atleast we should be getting a franchise cornerstone even if it's not him

Speaking of defecting it reminds me of something. My grandpa has cousins who grew up in East Germany, a person escaping to the West was risky with the Stassi constantly trying to uncover plans of people trying to escape east germany. Some relatives were evicted from their homes after WW2 cause of redrawn borders and they just happened to be on wrong side of Pommern by a few miles of land that was given to Poland.

That Michkovs dad died after going missing during Michkovs draft year is so very suspicious to me. Perhaps the Kremlin thinks Michkov was trying to defect ?

Michkov could make so much money in North America vs the collapsing Ruble in Russia with the KHL. He has the biggest reasons to leave Russia than any of their players. With salary cap going up, if he becomes a superstar he's looking at 10mil a year in his prime years.

I hope he defects to NA.
