Yeah i know its early but 2022 draft discussion started pretty quickly too last year.
So far its #1 Bedard and #2 Mitchkov but after that what are players you are interested in for the Ducks ?
I don't see Bedard falling like Wright did at all. Who will be this years Slaf and Cooley ?

Blanket warning to everyone - the season is over, the active tanking is over, and everyone needs to remember how to get along.

Polite discussions of different viewpoints is fine. Assertions as to who is a good fan, who is a bad fan, and most particularly trolling behavior is going to result in thread bans and warnings. The vast majority of posters here are great about this. There are a few of you, on both sides of this issue, who are trying to start things, and I would advise you to carefully consider if that snarky comment you just made is worth being your last post in a thread. I would advise the folks who think that making an even snarkier response to make that same assessment. Neither of your posts will be seen by anyone else for long regardless.

It is perfectly fine to not understand how anyone could root for the team to lose. It is perfectly fine to not understand how losing has strong benefits to the franchise king term. There are gaping holes in BOTH positions, that may be discussed and debated…POLITELY.

We are all Ducks fans. Time to remember that and stop being at each other’s throats.

The Ducks are most likely to pick 3rd (55.7%) and then 1st (25.5%). There is only an 18.8% chance of picking 2nd. So the most likely picks would be either Bedard (1st) or Carlsson (3rd). Fantilli is a long shot for the Ducks to pick assuming he goes 2nd.

Even with Bedard, Ducks probably suck next year. That gives you the foundational D.

I’d also say you can move Terry for a foundational D.

the Ducks most certainly will suck next season. it’s such a disarray. I think people are getting caught up with prospects and their potentials over fixing the present issues. I have still yet to hear or see a potential NHL coach be interested in Anaheim

Dont be surprised of Babcock returns...

All of that will change with a top three pick in this draft added to your forward core.

Anaheim is going to have a group similar to Colorado’s Landeskog, MacKinnon, and Rantanen.

lol, ill just agree to disagree. 4 dynamic forwards but yet no defensive help. Got it
there's Drysdale, Mintyukov, Zellweger, Lacombe, Helleson, Hinds & Luneau all in the system of course we're not going to be great overnight and we're probably still bad next year but I have no idea why you're treating adding a franchise forward when our prospect pool as far as forwards go is pretty barren like it's a bad thing.

which one of those defensive prospects can currently help this team? If we are going by what Verbeek says, all of them will be ‘over-seasoning’ in the minors. unless he can swing on some UFAs to join, next season will probably mirror this one

So what?

Crosby missed in 05-06.

Having Bedard in Anaheim changes everything.

changes what exactly? I’m not getting any context here.

Yes, he will change the offensive to provide more of a scoring threat, but I don’t know how he will transition his game from junior to the pro level (I’m sure he can handle it - I’m not doubting him)

we still have one, maybe two actual defenseman that can play the position, not to mention what we may or may not do with Gibson, and the coaching staff will most likely be let go.

I fear that the light at the end of the tunnel is still a long, long way away

Whoever we get, history says it’s not going to make an appreciable difference next year. 2-3 years is when we should expect significant impact from this draft.

The current kid crop, and hopefully some type of legit defenseman, is where the improvement will come from next year.
For me, it's huge, because I feel like the heart of what will be the new forward corps is really beginning to take shape. Like, after this, i don't think we'll need another core guy up front.

We will just need to fill in the wings (which is a separate and very important challenge, but an easier one to achieve, IMO).

Yeah, that is the frustrating thing. Seems like a flawed system when our chances at 1st are higher than 2nd.

this team has some great D prospects

literally no one is expecting the ducks to contend for the playoffs next season, but ending up with a top 3 pick gives them a great chance at reaching contention sooner. lots of work to be done, but getting a top 3 pick in this loaded draft is the best thing that's happened to this franchise in a long time

What makes me excited is the Top 3 is filled with franchise players, and one generational. We have over a 25% chance to land that generational player, but the other two players would have easily gone 1stOA if not for Bedard. This is a good time to finish dead last, it’s been a painful season, and getting an Elite potential player now will help wash away this horrible season.

Still have a lot of work to do, but with our stacked D prospect pool. Our current young forwards taking strides. Future is looking very good for Anaheim. Just gotta be a little more patient.
