Yeah i know its early but 2022 draft discussion started pretty quickly too last year.
So far its #1 Bedard and #2 Mitchkov but after that what are players you are interested in for the Ducks ?
I don't see Bedard falling like Wright did at all. Who will be this years Slaf and Cooley ?

Blanket warning to everyone - the season is over, the active tanking is over, and everyone needs to remember how to get along.

Polite discussions of different viewpoints is fine. Assertions as to who is a good fan, who is a bad fan, and most particularly trolling behavior is going to result in thread bans and warnings. The vast majority of posters here are great about this. There are a few of you, on both sides of this issue, who are trying to start things, and I would advise you to carefully consider if that snarky comment you just made is worth being your last post in a thread. I would advise the folks who think that making an even snarkier response to make that same assessment. Neither of your posts will be seen by anyone else for long regardless.

It is perfectly fine to not understand how anyone could root for the team to lose. It is perfectly fine to not understand how losing has strong benefits to the franchise king term. There are gaping holes in BOTH positions, that may be discussed and debated…POLITELY.

We are all Ducks fans. Time to remember that and stop being at each other’s throats.

Hoping to lose to the Kings tonight for the sole purpose of increased chances of beating the shit out of them for years to come is the goal. What’s not to like?

What makes me excited is the Top 3 is filled with franchise players, and one generational. We have over a 25% chance to land that generational player, but the other two players would have easily gone 1stOA if not for Bedard. This is a good time to finish dead last, it’s been a painful season, and getting an Elite potential player now will help wash away this horrible season.

Still have a lot of work to do, but with our stacked D prospect pool. Our current young forwards taking strides. Future is looking very good for Anaheim. Just gotta be a little more patient.
We have a 44.3% chance of picking 1st or 2nd which is crazy good. Who ever we get is going to be a 1st line forward

Yup! Plus, These three are projected to be better than anyone we have now, and we already have some very good young forward talent in Zegras, McTavish, and Terry. So we are not starting from scratch.

changes what exactly? I’m not getting any context here.

Yes, he will change the offensive to provide more of a scoring threat, but I don’t know how he will transition his game from junior to the pro level (I’m sure he can handle it - I’m not doubting him)

we still have one, maybe two actual defenseman that can play the position, not to mention what we may or may not do with Gibson, and the coaching staff will most likely be let go.

I fear that the light at the end of the tunnel is still a long, long way away

Changes what?

It gives them a player that is selling out crowds.

It's putting the best prospect in California that has literally ever been there.

You have a nucleus of Bedard, Zegras and Mctavish.

That is how you sell tickets and jerseys and with that comes attraction.

Plus your franchise is located in Anaheim, CA. Anyone will come there.

It won't be a turn around into the Ducks being a contender within two years, but guarantee you guys make the playoffs in three at most.

Wow can't believe they pulled off the #DiscardForBedard with guarenteed Top3 pick.
Bedard, Fantilli or Carlsson will become a Duck ! Let some other team worry about Michkov whether he will ever make it to North America or not.

Everyone will be playing with the lottery sim for the next several weeks till May 8th, lol.

Still on cloud 9 about this. We didn't have to worry about Chicago winning in regulation and we don't have to worry about Columbus tomorrow. Ducks are about to get their best prospect since Getzlaf as recompense for this ass wart of a season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to end the year. I'll still pray for a lottery win but I won't sit here and expect it either. The potential consolation prize is so sweet.

Anyone you get in this top three gives you the forward nucleus to be a contender in a way the Ducks literally have never been.

Such a win for Anaheim. It's going to be a fun decade or so out here in SoCal with LA, you, the gulls and Coachella Valley.

I’m just glad this season is over, think it will be an exciting summer, starting with the draft.

Guaranteed Fantilli is nice but let's not kid ourselves, we want BEDARD! :yo:
Ducks aren’t garaunteed a top 2 pick. I am hoping they get one though. I’d love to see Bedard on the team.

The only downside, and it really doesn't matter considering the golden opportunity the Ducks just secured, is that it's now impossible for the Blackhawks to finish the lowest of the big four. A win could have done it with another regulation loss from the Sharks as they'd take the tiebreaker. Sharks can still pull ahead of Columbus but with our last place finish locked in, there's no reason to root for a rival doing that. Also Columbus can't catch Chicago so...I'm just praying we win first or second overall and a team below Chicago wins the other pick. I want them to drop.

I’m curious how many people would take Michkov at 2 or 3? I think I would not.
It's a tough thing. He's very clearly an elite prospect. Arguably the best Russian prospect (known anyway since Kucherov came out of nowhere as a second round pick) since Ovi and Malkin. But he's guaranteed to be unavailable for another three years and if the situation in Russia gets worse it's not impossible to think he might be barred from coming over. Personally, If I'm picking anywhere from 1-3, I'm not taking the risk but I can see Chicago or San Jose doing so.

McTavish / Zegras / Bedard / Drysdale / Mintyukov has the makings of a wicked popper play unit. I do have my doubts about Zellweger fitting into the lineup long term.
Luneau is another one that might turn out pretty good.
With Mintyukov, Drysdale, Zellweger, Luneau, Hinds, LaCombe, Moore, Warren, Helleson there will be a crowded D eventually and some of the lesser ones may be traded or some simply don't pan out.

Our forward prospect pool took a hit with how bad San Diego Gulls were with Perreault and Tracey.
