What ran in my head play by play

Dom Smith up to the plate: not feeling they're gonna tie this

Smith turning away from first pitch an inside strike: yup, no way. He's either striking out or a pop up out

Pitch misses, count 1-1: tease

Smith smacks it down the first base line: what?!

Goldschmidt snatches it: of course. That's game.

Smith beats Gallegos to the bag: no f***ing way! No f***ing way!

Mets go ahead: believe

Not sure what was more insane. Arenado throwing the ball away or Dom beating out an infield single.

I went to shower when I saw May coming in. It was already late. I needed to get up at 5:45 and see where the night was heading. I saw 2-0 with men on and just laughed. The sooner Buck realizes that guy is stiff, the better. I go to bed at this point, but not before I sneak a peek and see a man on first (Escobar single) with one out. I get the following text from a friend: "CANO SUCKS." At that point, I put the phone down and went to sleep. I got up at 5:45, went to the couch to eat something, and I couldn't believe my eyes when the Bleacher Report home page showed a 5-2 Mets win. I did a double-take, and my mouth was open. Unbelievable.

This years Mets remind me of this years Rangers. Both teams were being run by clowns last year and now they are playing better with veteran additions and adults in leadership positions.

You know what my first thought was when Showalter was hired? "Finally got a real manager."

I've always loved Buck. I remember my old man loved him, too, and always wanted the Mets to hire him. He'd love this. Buck is doing a great job--his knowledge of the game is unparalleled and at least so far, he has done a good job keeping all the guys warm and managing the BP.

You can tell the guys feel confident with Buck at the helm.

Same owners both years. Middle management was the problem. :sarcasm:

The Yankee letter sealed was nothing. Basically the Yankees used the video room like everyone else did and before Manfred told everyone to stop in 2017.

The sign-stealing thing has always been a complete nonissue for me. It's been going on forever, has gotten more sophisticated, and I'd wager the house that it's still prevalent. This is one of those things that falls under the "If you're not cheating, you're not trying" mantra, in my eyes.

Good for the Mets. f*** Nolan Arenado, though, as that pitch wasn't even that tight on him and the Mets hitters have been getting killed all season. And also f*** their 1B coach for taking Alonso down like that, this isn't f***ing football and you can hurt a guy who isn't expecting that. I hope he gets a good suspension.

Alonso getting manhandled by a coach after the Mets getting beaned all season so far is a tough pill to swallow for Mets fans. Not exactly Wilson-Panarin levels, but close. I'd be seething if I were a Mets fan....

Complete overreaction by Arenado and the Cards. Mets get plunked a bunch of times, then dust Arenado back once. If it was thrown lower, it might have even been a strike.
