Hes not wrong though. Both Schmidt and Chapman got screwed out of Strikeouts

Schmidt got hosed, I’m not getting on the ump for this, they got 1 run in 11 innings off the Orioles.

It really depends how far the starters go. If they can get through 6 then the BP will be fine. Anything less than that then it could be a problem. Smith, May, Lugo, and Diaz are decent to good and everybody else is a crapshoot. Loup was a big loss and Castro deal looks like shit right now.
I'm not as confident in Lugo as I once was (unrelated to today) and I just haven't liked May since day one. IDK, there's not one single guy that comes out of that bullpen that really makes me feel confident.

with all the clever and interesting things you can do with a MLB ballpark it looks like Baltimore put a sawzall to the stadium and covered it in padding.

It looks awful. But then again I hate ballpark asymmetry.

I'm the opposite, I like the asymmetry as it reminds me of the old ballparks. before the cookie-cutter, multipurpose eyesores became a thing. I wouldn't argue for a Polo Grounds, or having flag poles in the field of play, but I like a little bit of character.

The Camden Yards thing just looks horrible. I've been to every iteration of Camden and they've adjusted left and left-center before, but this is just...bad. It looks so, so forced. Like when they brought left in at Citi, they were able to turn it into little porch seating section and now it almost looks like it was an original part of the design. I understand that it's easier to do that when you add rather than subtract, but still, it's just terrible. So disappointing, as I always though Camden was gorgeous and one of the best places to see a game.

I get the charm of old ballparks, where asymmetry was by necessity. In modern parks, it’s 100% manufactured and that’s where they lose me. No need to build a park today with right angles or a random hill in center field, it’s cartoonish at that point.

Cashman has to go. This is all on him. He got the green light to rebuild the team, which at the time was old, slow, relied too much on the home run, unathletic, etc. He rebuilds them and they’re old, slow, rely too much on the home run, unathletic, etc. This is his approach to team building. It’s time for a new approach to building the Yankees, because this ain’t it.

Worst off, it’s not even fun to watch. It’s boring, bad baseball.

If ownership gave a damn about winning championships, Cashman would have been fired awhile ago.

Feeling like we should have traded Dom Smith in the off-season. I know his value was low but it doesn't seem like he's primed to rebound here. If he does, it's probably elsewhere. I don't know what you'll get for him at this point. Mediocre reliever? He's looking like he's on the Ike Davis or Lucas Duda career trajectory.

So according to Baltimores ANALitics department.
Putting a sawzall to the stadium will win more games than signing starting pitching.

I mean, I see no reason to move him so low. I'd rather build up either his or JD's value and trade one of them.

Yeah I get that, but it assumes you can build up his value. And that's my thing, I'm not sure he's going to build up his value. Obviously very SSS so far, but he looks like he did last season. If he plays like this for another month or two who is going to want him?

Not sure I agree with aligning him with Davis or Duda. Ike had an enormous glitch in his swing that never got addressed (Keith noticed it fairly early on). Duda was just a limited player who was never the hitter that Dom has already shown to be.

Maybe. At this point Dom has had 900+ ABs where he was a below-average offensive player and 400 ABs where he was either good or excellent (and the 200 AB partial season where he was excellent, he had a .370 BABIP). Of course he's only 27 and has more than enough time to turn it around, but I'm not sold that the Dom we've seen in one-third of his career is the "real" Dom and that the Dom we've seen in the other two-thirds of his career is the "fake" Dom.

Honestly if what we saw last year from Dom is close to what he is, then he doesn't even approach Duda or Davis.

I wouldn't suggest trading him for nothing. I'm just somewhat concerned that he's not going to recover and when we do decide to move on, he'll be worth nothing at all. Who wants and 1B/DH who can't hit?

Dom is a good fielder which is a lot more than I can say for JD Davis.
