That DJ contract and the 8th and 9th hitters needing to be pinch hit for every night is a big time yikes.

The pen is going to be a real problem for the Mets. The middle innings guys are apparently terrible and I have little faith in the back end. Hopefully they can add an arm or two.

It's a joke. There have only been 23 perfect games in the history of baseball and he gets pulled when he's 6 outs away? Because he reached 80 pitches? In April? Give me a break.

Apparently Rich Hill (2016) and Kershaw are the only two pitchers in the last century pulled in the 7th or beyond of a perfect game. Common thread...Dave Roberts was the manager both times.

Cashman should absolutely have been fired over this offseason. Just a disaster
Ownership doesn't care about winning titles anymore. They care about the profit margin. All they have to do is field a moderately competitive team so fans will continue spending money.

walk the bases loaded in the 9th with no outs, top of the order is now up, only ahead by 3. good work Chap

It really depends how far the starters go. If they can get through 6 then the BP will be fine. Anything less than that then it could be a problem. Smith, May, Lugo, and Diaz are decent to good and everybody else is a crapshoot. Loup was a big loss and Castro deal looks like shit right now.

Mets/Bolts fan here. Among the Rangers fanbase I'd be curious to know what the general % split is between Yankee and Met fans. I know its far more complex than the myth that the Rangers/Yankees and Islanders/Mets are pairings.

Mets/Rangers

Grandparents grew up Brooklyn Dodgers fans. When the Dodgers moved west (57) there was no way to follow the team, and they hated the Yankees. So when the Mets were created (62), they became Mets fans.

This fits with my understanding for why the Mets have the biggest fanbase of all the NY teams who came 2nd. The Isles, Jets and Nets didn't get to inherit displaced fanbases the way the Mets did with the 2 former NY NL teams. I've even heard of cases of Mets fans who are fans of all the first teams in the rest of the sports.

My dad was a Yankee fan. My older brother was a Yankee/ranger fan then switched to Mets/isles. I was confused.
