The ball hit him in fair territory, right?
Check swing dribbler down the first base line. On a 3-0 count. Arcia had no business swinging there. It would have been ball four too.

Yeah that was one where the guy went up there having decided he was swinging at the 3-0 before it was thrown. He started that swing geared up for the 101 fastball and then realized it would have damn near hit him, but he couldn't stop the bat or get out in time because he was so committed.

It's tough to swing 3-0 now because where as it used to almost always be a fat fastball down the pipe in that count, now guys throw all their pitches in any count. I remember reading an article about the downturn in offense a while back and Ryan Zimmerman was talking about how there really aren't "fastball counts" anymore. Like 2-0, 3-1, you're more likely to see a slider or a change than that smash-able fastball you used to be able to count on.

Cute.

In reality, I don't think you'd find many Mets players that hated the Yankees. Why would they? Beyond the true Subway Series, there was never any particularly meaningful head-to-head games between the two teams. Interleague created a very forced rivalry, but (to me) it hasn't ever really felt like anything true or authentic.

The "rivalry" and hatred is more for fans. I can't imagine the players cared much about it.

That's some tough luck for Walker. Balls weren't hit all that hard, but the ball is carrying tonight.

Trey Mancini is hitting bombs … Benintendi is working counts - 1 for 23 and smiling .

At minimum the Mets are forcing the Braves to go to all their bullpen guys today. That bodes well for tomorrow.

Clay Holmes trash is piling up higher than Chapman…

Absolute garbage

Yankees claim Luke Bard off waivers from Rays to add bullpen depth.

The Mets did a lot of yapping before that series. Benny Agbayani in particular poked the bear.

same feeling the Giants have for Jets. They’re just the jets. Irrelevant
Yeah that's another manufactured rivalry. Even worse than Yankees-Mets, because other than preseason they barely play each other. How do you develop hatred for a team you play a meaningful game against once every three or four years or whatever it is? There's no reason for those two teams to feel anything particular for the each other.

Never seen so many plays at the plate. This must be driving the Braves infield nuts.
