Crotty and Leonard both on the list but Crotty is the only interesting one. That’s purely because he’s a 6’3 right-handed defensemen. Has shown the tiniest offensive progress. Basically the #5 guy on Tucson and I didn’t notice him during the game I went to.

Pre-draft analysis, in 2017, had him as a very good skater. He’s now at 212lbs according to Elite Prospects.

I don’t even remember Crotty from the several Tucson games I watched last year.

Jan Jenik from ARI looks intriguing. Could be a good claim for us. Almost a PPG level player in the AHL.

Anyone watch him play?

He’s a bit interesting, yeah. Big junior scorer who has kind of re-profiled into a bottom-6 guy willing to drop the gloves and play physical. Good size and good hands for a bottom-6 guy but the question mark is his skating.

What about them makes you so excited?
Depth RD and a player with nothing left to prove at the AHL level and really didn’t stand a chance cracking the Ottawa line up considering the depth they have on the wings.

JBD would be an upgrade over any depth RD that we have. They also have Chychrun, Zub, and Hamonic on the right side.

Everything is just too crowded in Ottawa land.

Not everyday you see a 6’3 230lb winger with size, skill, and physicality. His skating ability is adequate as well. I honestly don’t think he’ll make it to us.

Sololov has very slow feet and doesn’t track the play back well defensively. I don’t think he fits anything they’re really trying to do.

JBD is about as vanilla as it gets. Maybe his defensive IQ will play? But small defenders who can’t move the puck aren’t exactly in high demand.

JBD would probably be a fine claim due to the depth on the right side. At least makes some sense.

Claim JBD, trade Rathbone to Ottawa for a conditional pick or something. Profit?

Any additional RD depth would be welcome. We know how this team is with injuries.

EDIT: wait, they haven't signed Pinto. Probably wanting to clear some cap. Would be nice if the Canucks did get JBD.

jdb is another guy who has had infinite opportunity and done nothing with it. that's a pass for me

Neither will drop to the Canucks

Jacob Bernard Docker and Jan Jenik would at least provide depth at center and on the blueline. And both guys were selected in the 2018 draft--so they're only 23.

But the Canucks are so tight to the cap, I just can't see it happening.

I wrote this in a different thread.

"So far, from the list I found, only 3 out of about 140 players have been claimed.

you can find the list here:

NHL Waiver Wire: Complete list of players placed on waivers before 2023-24 NHL season

I don't. know the criteria for the list, it doesn't show Martin getting claimed."

Everyone talks about claiming players, but really don't have a way of adding any players do we? Surprised actually that someone didnt take a shot at Rathbone. Irwin Woo and Rathbone all cleared waivers. As I said above, only 3 out of 140 players were claimed. Though I have no idea how complete that list is.

5 players have been claimed and that list is wrong.

Rathbone is on a one-way, significantly lowered his appeal.

Ty Smith went unclaimed and is a better, younger, more established version of Rathbone. Rathbone wasn’t even able to beat out guys like Brisebois, Wolanin or Hirose for a spot this year which is alarming in itself. There was no way anyone was claiming Rathbone, his stock has been declining for a while now.

84 players have gone through waivers. 5 have been claimed.

An additional 29 players were placed on waivers yesterday. Senators placed 4 more but they don't go on waivers until today.

There's really no one available we could put on the roster today without losing a better player with the possible exception of Jan Jenik.
