Fagemo and Moverare on waivers.

Fagemo is intriguing. Right shot sniper.

Moverare is kind of interesting to me. I think he can play in the NHL as a depth guy. But i'm not really sure if it makes sense to bother, over guys like Wolanin/Brisebois already in house. Moverare ironically doesn't have the greatest mobility, so his upside is pretty capped. I'd definitely take Wolanin over him...and Brisebois, well...he's got the big edge in familiarity.

Fagemo is a terrible defensive player and I don’t see anywhere he would fit on this roster unless Boeser is traded tomorrow.

Mentioned in the other thread that Jansen Harkins is 100% an NHL player, would think hard about a claim there.

Yeah. Fagemo is the type of player who ends up waived because he needs to be in a role that he's not really good enough for, on a good team. Not really interested.

Harkins i'd pass on as well. He can play in the NHL in a depth role...but he's like...the Guillaume Brisebois of Forwards. Just very conservative nothingness who probably won't get you burned too badly.

I like Aman and Studnicka over him. Both are better skaters and bring more energy at least. Which is a factor when we're talking about depth guys like that. I don't really see much that Harkins does better to offset that.

Would've claimed emberson and Harkins

You would have put a claim in for Emberson, and proceeded to not land the player because we're miles behind San Jose in the waiver priority order.

If Harkins was on waivers last year, absolutely he would be an instant claim. But our bottom six is pretty full atm, and I suspect he doesn't even make it to the Canucks on the waiver order.

mhmm the assumption that it'd be successful is inherent, including harkins..

Also like moverare but not enough to have to keep him up

I might just be a big fan but I think Robin Salo might be worth a claim(if he gets waived).I watched him a couple of times with Islanders over the last two season and I think he can be a good defence first bottom pairing defensemen. Bolduc is interesting too but I watched his last preseason game and just don't feel he process the game fast or well enough to be a NHLer.

When you look around the league, the most active teams picking up players are the ones you'd expect--Anaheim, San Jose and Columbus. Not co-incidentally they were three of the league's worst teams a year ago.

Teams tight to the cap simply don't have the flexibility to add someone via the waiver wire. The trouble is you have to keep anyone you claim on the big league roster. And that means sending another player to the minors and exposing them to waivers.

Frankly I haven't seen anyone of the waiver wire so far who would make any sense for the Canucks.

A couple of interesting names just hit the waiver wire....Samuel Fagmo, a Swedish winger coming of a 27 and 23 goal seasons with the Ontario Reign....and still only 23.

And Phillipe Myers, a gargantuan 6'6 right-shot defender who's only 25 and has played for the Flyers, Preds and Lightning.

Just not sure the Canucks are ready to employ a pair of 6'6" d-men who go by the name of 'Myers'.

Myers has a 1.4m cap hit.

Harkins is redundant. Doesn’t necessarily bring anything we don’t already have amongst our depth forwards and is a worse skater.
Every time we played Manitoba last year he was the best player on the ice. Certainly better than any center Abby had.

For sure.

Harkins is just a guy I watched 5 or 6 times in the AHL last year and each time I was like ‘Why is this guy not in the NHL?’
Meh. He’s a replacement level player who could easily be a career AHL player.

He’s definitely a good AHL player. Wouldn’t mind swapping Dries for him.

I saw Nolan Foote on there. He hasn’t been placed on waivers, has he?

Bernard-Docker would be interesting.

Yes in terms of swaps Christianson and Harkins for Rathbone and Dries would be awesome. AHL upgrades and 2 local guys

i would claim Coghlan if we could

Canucks are 11th in line to pick up any players placed on waivers.....so anyone decent would likely be long gone by the time the Canucks ever had a crack at them.

My impression is that Robin Salo isn’t a defence first Dman but a guy who can move the puck well. I do think he’s worth a claim.

I've started updating the first post about the status of each player. If they've been waived I put it under "Status" and then scratch out their name once the 24 hour period has ended.

In regards to Foote, when Cal was a free agent the Canucks, according to Dhaliwal, weren't interested because neither Cal nor Adam want to be on the same team. Neither want to it to appear there's any nepotism. I imagine the same is for Nolan.

Also to be clear, the vast majority of players that I identified last season ended up sticking with their team. I expanded the list this season to get a few more names to watch. I'm happy so far since Emberson is a guy I liked the profile of.

Salo and JBD should be insta-claims given the quality of the Canucks' depth defensemen. I suspect they won't be waived by their teams though.

Harkins was drafted back in 2015, so he's 26. It's been 6 years as a pro for him. If he hasn't stuck with the Jets by now, (like who can't he beat out?), I doubt he really has a future in the NHL at this point.

Fagemo, he was drafted in 2019, but was 2018 eligible and went undrafted that year due to injuries. So, he's 23 now. Almost like a Hogs situation where he's skilled, but not productive enough to offset defensive weaknesses in his game.
Harkins and Fagemo both on waivers and would be worth a look IMO
