Habs GM talked about hockey sense, character and compete level. I know it’s not an indication of anything, could be other players too but i think it fits Leonard pretty well. If Smith gets taken before they pick and don’t want to draft Michkov, it makes sense.
Kent Hughes also knows pretty well this american draft class since he coached many of them 2-3 years ago.
Plus we learned that in the last few days
That’s just a personal opinion on where it looks like it’s going. I may be wrong though!

After last night I hope at the draft BA and the draft team enter Nashville's arena with some pre-checked baggage. 
So 6 and unprotected 1st next year for Matthews? 12th and some seconds for Kyle Connor? If Cooley doesn't want to play here next year, what defenseman can we get for him? Take Karrlson at no retention? Bloated contracts and no prospects is another city's problem.

I can say that. I grew up on Alma School and Guadalupe. Bought my first house there, too. I went to Jr High a 1/2 mi from Fiesta Mall.

Ojos locos is 100% a Latina hooters. I learned this the hard way on a business trip once. I was in Albuquerque with my boss and we didn’t want to go far from our hotel. There was a “Mexican food” place 50 yards away so we walked. It was around Halloween so we thought nothing of the “costumes” some of the girls were wearing. Then it slowly dawned on us after we’d been seated that this was a waitresses wear lingerie type bar. And not a Mexican food restaurant. It was unbelievably awkward. The man is a ginger and he turned redder than a chili pepper.

Pronman and Peters on the most recent Athletic pod said that based on their conversations with NHL scouts and execs, after the top five (Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith and Michkov) the three most likely players to stay in the top ten are Leonard, Reinbacher, and Dvorsky (in that order).
They also had a really interesting discussion on the much sought after character and compete elements for playoff teams. They used Toronto as an example of a team that continually attempts add those ingredients with depth players at deadlines, and it fails. The core group of Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares and Rielly are lacking those elements to some degree (or at least generally speaking as a group).
And even you being in the Simmonds, Foligno, O’Reilly, Acciari, Schenn, McCabe, etc it will never be the same as if those elements exist in your core group (like Tkachuk, Bennett, Pietrangelo, Eichel, etc) and if they’ve been on the team all year or longer. So much the better if they’re home cooked (like BA always says - they’ll BLEED for you).
This made me think of Ryan Leonard. That hard edged, ultra competitive, playoff style nastiness in what is a talented enough package to be a true core player is very, very hard to acquire. And can be a TREMENDOUS difference maker in the the playoffs. It’s hard to deny that it matters. It really seems to. Colorado, Tampa, and St. Louis all had a bunch of guys like that. Long term, core pieces, that are not only talented but blood and guts competitors.
I think that’s what BA was talking about in his post lottery availability. I think that’s why he wants Leonard. He knows what the Oshies, Tarasenkos, Schenns, Oreillys, Perrons, etc mean. All of that compete and skill in single players at the top of the lineup.

Matthew Tkachuck doing his thing in the playoffs might have Leonard come off the board early. Every team wants top 6 guys that play with jam and don't need to be motivated by a cattle prod.

Agree. Montreal might take him. Even San Jose maybe. I’m ok getting a top five faller. Although it’s very likely to be Michkov, which is somewhat scary given our drama and his. But maybe that makes it a good fit. Hopefully in three years both sides have clarity and both are happy with the pick.

That’s because Benson is incredible. He will be a star player. I’ve got him 3rd overall. I could be convinced easily to rank him as late as 5th but absolutely no later.
