Is there any updated height/weight for Michkov? His numbers at the start of the year were smaaall, and that's even with potential fudging by Russia.
5'10.0 172 lbs according to NHL Central Scouting on their mid-term rankings. Based on the highlight reels I'd guess those measurements are about right.

All negative all the time.

Yet you post in a 2023 draft thread where we talk about prospects in The upcoming draft. Why? No one knows but it’s negative.
I call it like I see it. If you think it's negative, so be it.

I don't think I could pass up Michkov with Ottawa's pick but the Coyote first, man I don't know, that's a tough call. The war in Ukraine (and yeah, it's definitely a war) is likely to drag on for years and US/Russia relations are almost certainly going to get worse, significantly worse even. We could end up with the 80's hockey embargo again. Even without any official block in place, considering Michkov can't come for 3 more years, that's a lot of time for him to get comfortable being a star in the KHL and getting used to the idea of never coming over here. Point is whether by decree, familiarity or just good 'ol nationalism (the dark horse in this race), the chances he never hits NHL ice during his prime is pretty high. There's no denying his talent but man, that's a huge risk!

Who do you think will top the Coyotes scouting staff’s list as the #1 dman in this draft?

I agree. If this franchise was in a better place I'd risk it but we can't take that chance. Things could get real ugly fast with Russia.

I'm no military strategist, but it seems like the corporations involved are pleased with the status quo. I don't see any interest in escalation from any party.

Just caught up w the thread -- @Sinurgy and @hbk thx for having an absolutely awesome argument / discussion about the tank a few pages ago. Imo you both repeatedly made excellent points and imo we're all much better off for reading both your thoughts regarding what the Yotes did this season -- I know I am, just wanted to say thx to you both for repeatedly sharing well thought out opinions.

Nothing more to add here (at least not at this time, I really don't follow prospects), just wanted to say thx. I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoyed / learned from what you both had to say

Thank you. I like to voice my opinion. Occasionally i listen. Often wrong. Just how it goes.

Redline says Cellebrini from the 2024 class is making the 2023 and 2024 deafts feel like Ovechkin and Crosby in back to back years.

I don't think most of you understand. Maybe age is just getting to some of you! The only thing that is annoying are the what ifs about where we are picking. Discuss draft prospects all you want, but I think it is stupid to sit here and talk about drafting 7 & 11 or 6 & 13 etc. Just wait until the lottery and then go from there ffs.
I don't think you understand.....otherwise you'd have the same experience I usually have when I visit this thread.... that experience today being I was taken to page 92 of 98 because I only visit this thread occasionally because of all the hypothetical discussion I don't wish to participate in so I just check in occasionally....now I'll skip directly to page 98....read however much I feel like reading...and then check back in about a week.

See you in April.... :thumbu:

With Guenther ready for the NHL next year; the evolution of Maccelli & McBain this season; and, Cooley potentially being the best prospect in the 2022 draft.... I'd be willing to use a top 5 pick on Michkov.....especially if Ottawa's pick is in or around the top 12.

In an alternate universe where Michkov was not Russian, he might get to the NHL sooner....but how much of that time would be spent getting 3rd/4th line minutes and working his way up the depth chart.

Keller, Cooley, Guenther, Crouse, Maccelli, Schmaltz, Hayton....

If we have to wait while he finishes his Russian contract that probably puts his path to the NHL on the same schedule as Connor Geekie.... I'd like to think by that time the Coyotes will be drafting 18th or higher....at a time when we might be a team trading a 1st round pick.

Sure would be nice to bring Michkov over from Russia at that time with Kaprizov type instant impact...while also being a substitute for a 1st round pick that was used for another acquisition.

@Yotes4Cup How's that for hypothetical bs? I feel your pain

That's a solid argument for risk vs reward especially with arena timeframe.
