I will cry myself to sleep with a extremely talented player. I have zero doubt. Although i reserve the right to complain if i don’t like who they select.
That's all you have been doing this last year. In fact, all you tanksters are.;)

Better than bitching all the time about everything and then offering zero opinion about players or prospects.
How can I have an opinion of players and prospects I don't watch? You may call it bitching, I call it "my opinion".

All negative all the time.

Yet you post in a 2023 draft thread where we talk about prospects in The upcoming draft. Why? No one knows but it’s negative.

It seems to me the top 5 is made up of 1st overalls, and 6-11ish are guys that would go 2nd to 5th overall.
If Bedard/Fantilli/Michkov/Carlsson/Benson are 1st overall tier, who are the 6-11 guys who could go 2nd-5th in other drafts? Will Smith of course but after that it becomes unclear for me.

Smith, Moore, Reinbacher, Barlow, Dvorsky, Yager, ASP, Gulyayev, Wood, Cristall, Sale.

I don't like all of those players, but many have been/still are in top 15 consideration. A few I have a lot closer to 5 than 15.

All that said, my comment was dumb. I should have said 4-15 range. I was thinking in terms of drawing the line at weaker drafts where I should be using a more average feeling for said line.

I do trust the process, I'm extremely in favor of the rebuild, but it's pretty f***ing hard to be excited about all these garbage time points. They don't mean anything and I'm not convinced it's the result of some sort of magical culture shift, especially since the franchise has a history of doing well once there's no more pressure. All I see is an amazing opportunity slipping through their hands again and for what...not a god damn thing.

Personally I would take McDrai over Boston's culture 10 out of 10 times and without hesitation.
I remember reading an article about the Bruins and Jim Montgomery. This was around the time that they had just fired Cassidy. There was a lot of criticism toward the organization and people were questioning the move. How come with all that success, you go and make a move like that. That’s beside the point, and not relevant to mine. It was the beginning of training camp and Jim was addressing his new team. When he finished his speech, he said let’s get to work… What ensued afterwards is the kind of thing I crave. With Chara just retiring, you would think that kind of leadership would be hard to replace. Bergeron the new freshly named captain stood up once his coach was done speaking. He begun to deliver up his own motivational speech to his team. Referencing that they came up short in the playoffs last year and that was not their expectations. Once he was done, MacAvoy stood up and had his own to deliver. I remember Montgomery said he was stunned and shocked at the organizations pride and leadership that was demonstrated that day. Personally I feel like BA is attempting this model. I’m just as upset as you are about winning when it doesn’t matter, but frankly I’m just over wishing for losses and ping pong balls to go our way. I’m enjoying the ride for once and I like where we are headed. Now let’s win this lottery and preferably not with the Sens pick.

Looking back at last 7 or 8 drafts I think it's a little rich to claim that 5 or more this year are better than the players selected 1st those years.

I agree. But to say that 4 from this year are at least on par with most other 1 OAs is a pretty reasonable assertion.
I would say 4 would easily be 2nd most years and 1st a couple years is more realistic. We are talking McDavid, Matthews, Hischier, Hughes, Dahlin territory.

Morgan speaks pretty freely about how the earliest he thinks we would look to draft Mitchkov is at the Sens pick.
Yeah, no. If Mich is there at our first pick, we have to take him.

No if's, and's or but's about it. He's the second best player in the entire draft, and is arguably the next Ovechkin.

We have to take him if he's available at first chance.

we have played plenty of teams these past few weeks with something to play for who we just flat out outworked
It's a lot harder to perform when there's pressure. The Coyotes tend to thrive when there is no pressure.

I agree with you it's likely they're worse next season than this one but that'll be because there's no longer a Bedard or Fantilli available. This is the Coyote way.

I just can’t get on board with this. Keller has been lights out since the all star break and is a significant reason why they are not in the bottom 5. As much as I would have loved a better chance at Bedard, Keller is just as important to this team’s future success as our draft pick this year. He was also drafted 7th overall which is very likely where we could end up. There is still talent to be had with two top 13 picks in what people consider to be a great draft. I wouldn’t consider this garbage time points when guys like Hayton and Maccelli are also developing/contributing in a major way.

Is it ideal? No. But I’m enjoying watching this current roster grow since it is the young guys carrying the team and not aging vets like in the past.
We'll see how they do next year while Bedard is lighting up the league. I hope this is Kellers new norm, I hope Hayton is actually turning a corner and Macelli takes another step (though a sophomore slump would be understandable) but history tells me I should remain skeptical.

I have at 3.

What? If he falls to #5 it is a big steal.
Geopolitical issues Mitchkov will fall.

Well no way he is dropping to Ottawa's pick so better pick him with our first pick if we get the opportunity.
I would take him early. Their is risk and its geopolitical in nature and it is likely to get worse instead of better. If u can tolerate a 3- never timeframe of him coming over then you take him. If u have another option that is really good that doesn’t have the “never” risk then I understand why he could fall.

Is there any updated height/weight for Michkov? His numbers at the start of the year were smaaall, and that's even with potential fudging by Russia.
