Hope you're right but this is a well coached team for the amount of trash on it and I don't see a buyer for Chychrun at today's price.

I might be generous saying Nashville will beat us twice but here is February's best guess assuming we pick up no overtime loss points:
MIN - L
CHI - W
STL - W
NSH - L
TBL - L
LAK - L
CBJ - W
CGY - L
NSH - L
CHI - W
You've got it backwards. These Coyotes are very good at losing to other tank teams. They're also pretty good at beating the top teams, especially those in the East.

I need to get hyped up on Calrsson again. I need to get his WJC performance out of my head. It's not even that his performance was bad but I hated that he was LW and the game and a half I saw I didn't see the snarl or the smoothness I've read about and seen highlights of.

Get me hyped back up on Carlsson otherwise I'm on the Benson choo-choo

Could Benson's stats be a bit inflated because of the team he is on? Where would you place Cristall in the draft? He has a PPG of 1.72, Benson 1.64 and Bedard 2.50. Looking at the team standings only Benson is on a stacked team and leading in points. Both Benson and Cristall are small and as a side note, Cristall was drafted before Benson in the junior draft, which really doesn't mean much, but why isn't there much talk about Cristall?
Benson is the driver of that team in the games I have watched.

Cristall should get more interest IMO. He is in the mix for top 10 IMO.

Carlsson is extremely impressive for a talent/size/skill combo, IMO. He hasn’t played center in a couple of years though. I’m not sure this is a center. I get that he’s been playing up because he’s so good, and the SHL won’t play a kid that young at C. Fair. But he didn’t play C at the U20s or the U18s. Sooooo…winger? Maybe a Mikko Rantanen type as a top-end?

Martin Mišiak has been a riser in draft rankings lately - late first to second rounder. You might remember he played for Slovakia at the WJC on a line with Zlnka. Came over to the Youngstown last week and scores in his first game. Good size and skill.

This makes me happy, I hope we get 100% support for a Benson selection at 3/4. If we do draft him and he fails to be a stud by 24, you can all take a turn punching me in the D. I'll accept it, and likely will deserve it. He's won it, he's my favorite not Bedard or Fantilli.

Dvorsky is my guy right now, outside of the obvious top guys.

Dvorský is too good for juniors, so AIK moved him up to the Allsvenskan earlier this year. If he had stayed, he would likely be near Will Smith’s numbers in PPG. But he’s improved so much playing with better competition. Mainly playing wing and center of their third line, he’s got 10 pts in his last 10 games. As hbk alluded to, Recrutes is very high on him.

Maybe the Coyotes draft a defenseman in the late first to second round. Brock Otten says Beau Akey is the best overall skater (among defenseman) in the OHL. Here’s a glimpse of that. Coyotes prospect Anson Thornton with the stop.

The thing that trips me up in these comparisons of USNTDP production, is that Gabe Perreault is doing it too. No one wants Gabe Perreault in the top six picks. So why does Smith deserve the special attention.
Same reason why Cooley gets all the publicity while Snuggerud is right there with him. Cooley does all the heavy lifting on the line and the same is true of Smith. Smith is the guy that drives the line, much like Benson drives the line for the ICE. That is why Smith is prognosticated to go somewhere from 4-7 and Perreault is outside the top 15 on most draft lists.

I do like Leonard a lot though. Reminds me of Farabee quite a bit but I think he’s more skilled.

I get your point but the analogy isn't great. Snuggerud didn't come close to matching Cooley in their draft year.
Now in D+1 they're on the same pace and before the WJC, plenty of posters in the Snuggerud thread were saying he was the better prospect.

Anyways, your point stands. Perreault would be rated higher if he was driving the play, but he's not. Smith is driving the play and they're both scoring at historically high rates as a result.

I have seen Oliver Moore placed ahead of Leonard, Perreault and even Smith in a couple scouting rankings. Another stacked year in the USDP, hard to ignor Perreault putting up almost a goal a game there.

Receutes did a 15 minute dive on a recent game by Smith where he cherrypicked and dogged it for a lot of the game.

I’d say the main difference between Smith and Cooley is pace and fire. Cooley has a much better motor.

Oliver Moore probably had the second best motor in the draft, next to Benson.

Benson is one of the hardest working draft prospects I’ve ever seen in all my years, honestly. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a better CHL puck hound.
