I think it means a lot. I like Carlsson enough to have him 3rd.
Agree to disagree then. It's certainly a plus, but I've seen plenty of guys who didn't look super engaged in Junior get a fire in them in the NHL, and I've seen plenty of guys who did look engaged fall off a cliff or pack it in. Kadri, and Domi both turned it up when they got to the NHL. Strome did the opposite. Perlini did the opposite. No one has any idea about either of these guys in the NHL. Carlsson certainly doesn't seem to have any red flags to me in that regard.

Doesn't really matter anyways, I'll be happy with either of them. Though I will say I like Carlsson more at the WJC than Fantilli so far.

I disagree strongly about Kadri, Domi, Strome and Perlini. I think those are prime examples that support my point.

I guarantee if the pick is not top 4 the pick will be Yager. He is a prototypical BA guy
I loved his game last season. Im reading some concerning things about this season.

I can’t cite articles or anything. General sense on Twitter, I guess. From following media scouts. Guys like Tony Ferrari have referenced coasting, lack of backchecking, and being overly opportunistic/cookie hunting.

I like the content these guys produce but I generally take their opinions with huge grains of salt. They tend to be really low on guys like Stramel, Barlow, Yager etc. But really high on guys like Cristall, Gulyayev and Pellikka. In other words…they’re hipsters.

I watched Yager a ton last season and loved his motor and his shot and his game, overall. So I’m not sure what to make of some of the things I’ve read more recently. I might buy the CHL package when it gets cheap.

Who do you like better: Stramel or Musty?
Stramel by a lot. I watched both quite a bit last season, and this isn’t close for me. Musty is an absolute roller coaster. He’s got a ton of skill and physical gifts but also so many red flags. Stramel has less skill but none of those risks. Stramel is a workhorse. Like Crouse as a right-shot center. Musty could be easily be Alex Tuch or Brendan Perlini. I wouldn’t be made at a Musty with whatever our 3rd pick in the draft ends up being. But I’d be scared to take him earlier.

EDIT: I’ll be honest. Didn’t realize Musty was having such a big year. I need to check out some Sudbury games. I’m dealing in outdated information.

Can someone please give me an update on how our top 4 pics from last year are progressing? Thanks.

Just based on stat watching, Cooley, Geekie and Lutz have taken a small step forward. Lamoureux has only played 3 games since off-season shoulder surgery, it's encouraging that he already has 4 points. Matikka is the one guy that's really exceeded expectations. He's on a mission to destroy the USHL.

The only one of these guys I've seen play this season is a few games from Geekie. He's still inconsistent with the engage switch.

I'd love to be watching Cooley and Lutz at the WJC but I'm busy hiking and boogie boarding on a family vacation.

Hopefully someone who's actually been watching any of these guys can chime in.

I’ll be providing many long winded hot takes soon. Keep in mind, I’m usually wrong. ;)

Caught a few shifts from Lamereoux recently. It’s actually comical when he’s in front of his net battling with another forward. It’s like a dad playing basketball against his 5 year old.

I just got the half off CHL tv package, so I’ll have to make a point to catch a few of his games.
You don’t even need to go look up his number. He’s the biggest person on the ice.

Leo Carlsson with two goals and the best player on the ice (disregarding the Swedish goalie Lindbom). Carlsson hasn't really impressed me that much so far in the tournament, but today he def stepped up.
He is the real deal
He's been ill and even missed a game due to it.
Their last game finally had the coach do something about the incredibly poor play by benching Odelius. Should make the team wake up, although I still don't give them much chance with their lack of defence.

Chicago knows this and is playing it smart. Coyotes...well they do what the Coyotes always do.

What's really going to sting is I have this guy feeling we could be worse next season. More rookies taking bigger roles. We may not have Chychrun, Ghost, Ritchie and Bjudstadt, who all could be replaced with lesser vets and worse cap dumps. We have been healthy for the almost of this season (knock on wood) and even returning back to the mean could mean one of our important forwards like Crouse or Keller/Schmaltz being out for a chunk of time.

I can just see it now, finish 8th worst in the generational draft with 4-5 superstars. Finish dead last the following season that is a much more average draft (I admittedly know nothing about the 2024 class).
