I also think the year we try to compete will be the year we actually win a lottery/tank. Easier to win when you have nothing to loseSame.

I’m hoping it’s this year. For Bedard. I want an uncomplicated fire hydrant that can score goals from anywhere seemingly at will.I also think the year we try to compete will be the year we actually win a lottery/tank. Easier to win when you have nothing to lose
Or next year, BA alluded to having 5 rookies on the team. Teams usually don’t win with that much youth.I also think the year we try to compete will be the year we actually win a lottery/tank. Easier to win when you have nothing to lose
I've been consistent in saying that we're not a bottom 3 team. Been saying it here since the summer.I think EVERY fan/commentator/insider had the Coyotes as a clear cut bottom 3 team with Chicago and maybe Philly.
No way was Anaheim or Columbus supposed to be this bad.

The team is even better than I expected though, mostly thanks to Veggie.
We are seeing a career year from Keller and Crouse. Chychrun is pacing to have his best season as well. Veggie is looking like a top 12 or top 8 goalie in the league for this season (maybe higher statistically if you ignore wins as a stat). Meanwhile we have a surprise Calder candidate in Maccelli, Bjudstadt and Ghost are having complete resurgences of their careers and younger guys like Moser are taking another step. I'd say the only player that you can claim is underperforming is Hayton and outside of offense he isn't hurting the team.
AT is a fantastic coach and it seems like we have a fantastic management staff.
We'd pay the most for what could be his declining years too.
Veggie was not very consistent last year, and the start of this year, but he sure is now. He really has surprised me with how good he has become.I've been consistent in saying that we're not a bottom 3 team. Been saying it here since the summer.

We ran him into the ground though. Maybe that is the plan this year as well. Exhaust him to the point where he is wildly inconsistent again.Veggie was not very consistent last year, and the start of this year, but he sure is now. He really has surprised me with how good he has become.
If he is a legit starter he wasn't really ran into the ground with 52 starts last year. Probably tougher than his past but that should be the expected going forward. We ran him into the ground though. The pace of an NHl schedule is a tough adjustment for rookies. He looks like he’s adjusted so far. I do think the Coyotes pushed him last year mainly to get a sense of what he could be. He’s obviously exceeded expectations so far.If he is a legit starter he wasn't really ran into the ground with 52 starts last year. That is very concerning and quite frankly absurd. In professional sport there is no such thing as 11-14 year rebuild Correct term is failed organization. This community will not support non-competitive team for a decade or more.Agree hbk, imo, what a wasted year if we don’t get one of those monsters at the top of this incredible draft. I get it, building culture and identity are important.
Just listened to the Bill Armstrong interview on the Athletic podcast. BA views the rebuild in the 11-14 year range. With that in mind, and to your point, waiting on Michkov seems like less of a big deal. I don’t see them finishing lower than 4th = 6th with lottery luck. Maybe Will Smith, Dvo, Yager, Benson range. Of course, Veggie might pull them into the 10-13 range too.
If Pittsburgh, who has the worst prospect pool in the league, and an aging core of expensive players with trade protections, sold off starting this season, when would you expect they might win another Stanley Cup? 11-14 years seems right. He wasn’t talking about an ideal, he was referencing numbers he actually ran. And I don’t believe he meant until “done rebuilding”, I believe he meant “until winning a Cup”.That is very concerning and quite frankly absurd. In professional sport there is no such thing as 11-14 year rebuild Correct term is failed organization. This community will not support non-competitive team for a decade or more.
I have never heard of a 11-14 yr. time frame for a rebuild. You have to be in the playoffs 3-5 yrs. after you start a rebuild. You have your core and then you start tweaking, and hopefully in the next 2-3 years you are a SC contender. Winning a SC is anyone's guess, and may never happen, but you should be a very good team for a very long time and hopefully in the playoffs during this time.If Pittsburgh, who has the worst prospect pool in the league, and an aging core of expensive players with trade protections, sold off starting this season, when would you expect they might win another Stanley Cup? 11-14 years seems right. He’s talking about tear down to cup lift. I don’t know how else to say it. Seems perfectly clear and reasonable to me.I have never heard of a 11-14 yr. time frame for a rebuild. Still doesn't make sense. He’s talking about tear down to cup lift. I don’t know how else to say it. Seems perfectly clear and reasonable to me.

Show me the data. This is correct.
A few of us have made multiple examples of this over the past year and a half. It's becoming an undeniable truth.
3-5 years is maybe a good sample for making the playoffs, but tons of teams do that and then need to go back and draft for another year or more. 11-14 years to win a cup is a realistic and data driven figure.
BA has been clear about this, his plan will revolve around this, and our measurement of his success needs to be based on this. Anything critical about this time frame is driven by personal feelings and not the data.
I hate it, Cobra hates it, Jake hates it, others hate it, but this is our path. Let's all hope we get to go the way of the Blackhawks and win a cup in 8 instead of 14 years.
