Prospect Info: 2023 Draft Thread (Yotes picking #6 & #12)

Only seen Dvorsky in person a few times, so I don't have a lot to go on. Only important thing I can point out is that he's a proper center. He doesn't have nearly as big of an impact on the wing. Looked pretty meh playing against men, although with two years of watching Carlsson excel at that I might have too high standards at the moment.
With some more added muscle I think he'll transition really well to NHL however and fit perfectly as a 2C, even having the potential to be a very high-end 2C.

Not sure if it’s a philosophical thing but I noticed today looking at BA’s picks with the Blues and of his eight first rounders only one was used on a defenceman.

Probably, and I wouldn't like it. He's likely a top 6 NHLer, but I dislike his way of playing the game. I'll probably change my mind in a year or 2.

How does he play the game? How many games have you seen him play? Just curious because teams haven't seen him play much the last year.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, pushing for their protected first should be the first ask but I do like some players at 40 projected to be there this year. If you slot in a couple names it makes the drop down two spots interesting. Of course, this if we have ruled out Michkov.

6 for 8 (Dvorsky-C/W) + 40 (One of Hrabel-G, Wahlberg-C, Dvorak-LD, Nelson-C) + Chesley-RD +?

Trading down in any draft is stupid, especially this one. I guess it will depend on who is taken top 5. My opinion.

I would love Smith at 6. I have seen a few clips of him the last while and he is very talented.

Given who we took to dinner...and if those are the only guys in the running for us at #6/#12...then we're absolutely getting Yager at #12, because all the other guys are going to be gone before that.

So it's either Dvorsky/Yager or Leonard/Yager

Yager is at 16 on my list but at the start of the year I had him top 5. He's a very good C with a fantastic shot. I'm happy with any of these scenarios.

Love Leonard, but we don't need a wing (Michkov aside).

You can never have too many centers in your pipeline. A surplus of something can lead to value later.

I feel about Yager the same way that rt feels about Bensen. Really like the player but ranked him where I did based on what I saw this year.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that one or the other of Benson/Willander will be there at 12th. But I like Yager so would be fine with him there.

I think Leonard is going at 5th but now I finally have hope that we won’t just take Reinbacher at 6th, as a result. I’m hoping we take Dvorsky. And then I’m hoping Plandowski’s size comments are about Benson, who I’m hoping will fall to 12th and we take him.

I think then we take a couple of 3rds and package them with our early 2nd to move up late in the 1st to nab Strbak (maybe eating a dump too).

If the Flyers move up to 5th and take Michkov, I think we will take Leonard at 6th.

If they move up to 4th to take Michkov, I think Montreal takes Smith at 5th and we take Leonard at 6th.

Im not concerned about getting a D in the first round. If he is the BPA then sure but if not keep taking forwards. Figure out the D later on.
