Saw Callum Ritchie live last night. Wasn't very engaged but I like his size.

Kinda sounds like the comments I read after the U18s. He was quiet in that tournament but somehow still lead all players in scoring.

Just got home from watching ÖHK demolish HV71 with Carlsson playing quite a decent amount. He was moved around a bit on the lines but stuck to playing wing. Had one goal and one assist and and looked lethal every time he got the puck in his own defensive end with how quickly he moves up the ice and flies past opponents.
Made quite a lot of really good passes which weren't taken advantage of. Bromé and Abols (first line) have been starting slow this year. He did however misplace a pass badly which lead to HV71's probably best opportunity of the game.
He looked somewhat invisible when on the forecheck, but somehow all of a sudden he intercepts the puck and rushes up the ice.
Carlsson meanwhile is currently on 6 points in 7 games. Still feel like he will be battling it out with Fantilli for being the third best player of this draft, although I still hold a slight edge to Fantilli from the little I have seen of him.

Carlsson playing with Guenther would be absolutely nasty.

Found this on the thread about him that shows a little bit more of what he did during todays (or well, now yesterdays) game;

Is the expectation that Fantilli will be NHL ready for 2023-24 or will he need another season at Michigan?

Good to know. If we can add both Cooley and Fantilli next year ...

Keller - Hayton - Schmaltz
Crouse - Cooley - Guenther
Maccelli* - Fantilli - Fischer*
Jenik* - McBain* - Kassian
Boyd

*RFA

I'd like to trade and then re-sign Ritchie as well but there may not be room.

I doubt we'll have the lottery luck required to draft Fantilli but if we do, I want him to spend D+1 in the NCAA. It certainly wouldn't hurt him. And Carlson could/should stay in the SHL without it hurting his development.

Part of the consideration is how many rookies we can fold into the roster at once.

2021
Hayton, Moser

2022
Maccelli, McBain, Guenther

2023
Cooley, Soderstom, Jenik, Smith, Kolyachonok

I'd rather both just play in the AHL. Close for call ups to give them some NHL time too
Also I expect some of the prospects to be moved for quality prime aged players at some point to help start pushing out of the rebuild after this next draft.

Well, I went to tankathon and the Coyotes landed the 2nd pick with my 1st try. The 2nd try landed us Bedard, so if that isn't a premonition, I don't know what is?

Back to reality and the discussion. IMO, that is why we brought in Tourigny. I also remember when the Whalers enter the NHL and had the 2nd best draft class after the Oilers. It was great watching them develop into a team, but alas politics got in the way. That's another story.

there could be more than 5+ players from this draft that play in the show the next year.
Emphasis on the “+.” Many teams in the top 20 are going to select a foundational piece. Reminds me of 2003 and Daymond Langkow- the Flyers still benefiting from that trade tree.
