I have yet to watch a ton of Leonard film but everything about the guy screams future captain material. Sounds like a perfect compliment to a player like Maccelli or Keller. Throw in Barlow at 12 and we have some serious character injection.

This. Watching his highlights, he reminds me a lot of Jamie Benn.

Nashville is also hosting the Draft, so maybe they have some extra incentive to want to announce a trade up for their fans? Probably not a big consideration, but maybe not nothing.

Not that big. I think Landeskog mixed with some Oshie.

To be fair he’s not as big as those guys either, but has a better shot. Oshie is one of those guys that comes to mind that’s insanely strong for his size. He reminds me a lot of Pavelski but with Oshies grit. In that athletic article one of the scouts said he hopes someone overlooks him because of his size. Could be M.Tkachuck or Ryan Hartman.

He’s a 5’11 17 year old. Oshie and Landeskog are both listed at 6’00. He’ll get there. His whole thing is being insanely strong for his size. Watch Leonard’s reverse hits. Guys fly off of him. It’s his thing. Just like Oshie. And Landeskog to some extent.

Latest IIHF/USA had him at 190lbs I believe. They’ll be good enough for one of the more powerful builds at the combine, I’m sure.

For some reason I thought they were taller but that’s what I get for going off the top of the head. Skill wise I always felt like Oshie should have been able to produce more. Not that what he has produced is insignificant. Leonard’s shot is much better it seems and he’s impressed me with the ability to score in a variety of ways as well. Kind of why I thought Pavelski might be a good comparable at least with his offensive game. I’m aware he doesn’t throw hits but he doesn’t shy away from the tough areas of the game. Also would check the leadership box. These are very raw initial viewings but I like what I see from everyone so far.

Who did they show the Coyotes taking at 6? And don't say Reinbacher. Ive seen at least 3 now having us taking him. Exactly what rt was eluding to the other day.

6. Arizona Coyotes: David Reinbacher, RHD, EHC Kloten

My rank: No. 15

It’s my expectation that Reinbacher, the consensus top D prospect in this class, will be picked in the 5-8 range based on the teams drafting there. I also expect that the Coyotes, the only team with two picks in the front half of the first round, will take a defenceman with one of their choices after having drafted forwards Logan Cooley, Conor Geekie and Dylan Guenther with each of their last three top picks. Knowing that Reinbacher isn’t likely to be there when it’s their turn again at No. 12, and knowing the quality of the talent pool at forward, I suspect their most likely play is to go D first because there are fewer of them to come by in this class. If they go forward here, though, keep an eye on Slovak Dalibor Dvorsky.

I thought Leonard was 6’1 last season. Haha. He’s that type. You think he’s bigger. I think Pavelski is just too good for a comp. Maybe throw in a Max Domi to balance it out. Landeskog, Oshie, Pavelski and Domi in a blender. Lol.

Value is lob-sided in our favor. Can't see it happening without an added future 2nd from us or something equivalent. The chatter was based on their desperate need for high end skill to get the Wings out of their rebuild.

Fan chatter on a Wings pod. We end up with 9, 12, 17. If Dvorsky is there, I can't see the team passing him up. Any appetite for this?

AZ gets:
9
17

Detroit gets:
6 - Michkov
Chi Bedard
Ana Fantilli
CBJ Carlsson
SJ Smith
Mtl Dvorsky
Det Michkov
Phi Leonard
Was Reinbacher
AZ ?

Trading back does very little for this team at 6 or 12. BA already has his quantity and needs to focus on quality. Not including the picks they have this year, they already have 10 picks in the first two rounds for the 2024 and 2025 drafts. If he makes any moves, it will likely be to trade up for a player in the upcoming drafts.
