What if the 15th olace team wins and goes to 5. And then then the 14th place team wins a second lottery. Who picks where?

I think that's an easy one. The 14th place team picks 4th. But I could be out to lunch??

So the team that was 4th is now 6th? And the team that was 5th is now 7? And the team that won the first lottery picks behind the team that won the second lottery?

I would think so. But again I know little. I think if 13th or lower team win lottery 1 and 12th place win lottery 2 then 1st winner picks 3rd or lower with 12th place picking 2nd?

I've wondered about this in the past. There's not much info out there.

To me it would make the most sense if there wasn't a 1 OA draw and a 2 OA draw, but instead there was a draw and then another draw. Each draw would allow the winner to move up 10 slots.

My way isn't the way they actually do it, because if it was, Ottawa would have a chance of drafting 3 OA (if they won the first draw and then got bumped down by the winner of the next draw).

I’ve got a question maybe @mouser knows? Not exactly CBA but when it comes to the 10 spot move up limit, what happens if the #12 team wins the 1st overall lottery and moves up to #2 because of the limit, then another team (other than the 32nd team) wins the lottery for #2? Does the team that won the 1st overall drawing get knocked down to #3 and the team that won the 1st overall get #2 and the 32nd team, who didn’t win anything, gets to retain #1 by default?

Say for laughs, Ottawa wins the pick for 1st overall and AZ wins the pick for 2nd overall. Who then picks 3rd? AZ or Ottawa?

My best understanding is there are two separate draws for picks #1 and #2.

In your scenario:

- Once #12 (Ottawa) wins the lottery draw for the first pick the #1 team (Anaheim) has won 1st overall. Ottawa can move up at most 10 draft positions, but are not guaranteed the second pick.
- If Arizona or any other team lower than #12 wins the lottery draw for the second pick then Ottawa drops to the third pick.

The only way Ottawa can hold onto that second pick in your scenario is if a team seeded lower than Ottawa (#13-#16) wins the lottery for the second pick.

Been out the game for a minute. Who do we like in the 5-10 range for our pick and who do we like for the Ottawa pick?

I think we're all gonna have a different group in the 4-8 ranking. I think it's likely that one of or both of Benson and Michkov are available.

If Bill is gonna reach at 7 OA for a guy that is at least 6'1 then Barlow is the one that seems to fit.

Looks correct to me.
Isn't the team that ends up last not included in the second lottery and can't be knocked to second no matter what? So, if the first lottery happens at 12, this team would pick second, and the team that finished last would stay at 1 and be excluded from the second lottery, but if the 11th picks gets the second lottery they would pick second and the team that won the first lottery would pick third?

I think it’s hilarious and yet wrong that we have a scenario where the 2nd lottery winner pick ahead of the 1st.
I think that is not correct. I believe the 1st. is only at risk in the first lottery.

Yes. I don’t even really care if our pick moves back to 7th or even 8th. I just REALLY can’t stomach Ottawa winning a lottery. Not unless we also win a lottery too. Haha. If we win Bedard and they win Fantilli, then so be it. That’s fine.
Ottawa winning lottery means we have to reappraise the Chychrun deal and to be honest I don't want to do that.

Yes, but that would most assuredly mean (Coyotes Curse) that they would make the playoffs and win in the first round minimum.
Yep...you can pretty much bank on it. The Coyotes would end up with an even lower pick in a draft that is expected to be a noticeable step down from the 2023 draft.

Assuming we get bumped down from the lottery by one slot, our picks are as follows, along with my hope of who we get. I'm going heavily Euro because it seems there's better value there. I've got one Canadian kid in there and one Scottsdale native for good measure.

7 Michkov LW 5'10
12 Dvorak LC 6'1
38 Strbak RD 6'2
70 Bertucci LD 6'2
72 Edstrom LC 6'3
82 Kumpulainen LW 6'2
92 Lipinski RC 6'4

and you mean Dvorsky right at #12?

and replace Edstrom or Kumpulainen with Willander and I'm good to go w/your list...although I'd probably take another F at #70, so move Bertucci to #72, Willander at #82 and Lipinski at #92

#7 - Michkov
#12 - Dvorsky
#38 - Strbak
#70 - Ziemmer
#72 - Bertucci
#82 - Willander
#92 - Lipinski

I like your list better, I just think it's unlikely we could get Ziemmer or Willander at those slots. I really like both those guys.

I think I'm done rooting for us to draft anyone going the college route. This crap with Farinacci, Lipkin and perhaps Cooley using college years as a tool to reach UFA has grown very stale.
