I like Leonard and I like Reinbacher. I don't see Yzerman taking a defenseman, and I don't see Leonard being available at 9.

I think 9OA is our best asset to include in a trade for someone like Kyle Connor, and I hope that's how it's used. My exception would be if there's some backwards universe where Michkov slips that far, but even if he does slide hard, he won't make it past Washington.
a lot of mock drafts speculating arizona will swing on reinbacher BC they have no D prospects.

with at least a few of players like moore, barlow, dvorsky, and wood IMO would rather make pick than try to fast track rebuild with KFC

After the big five I see Dvorski , Leonard, and Reinbach as my top three choices. I have a bad feeling those three could be the next three picks. I guess Oliver Moore would be
my pick in that scenario

Look at the Dylan Cozens and Nate Danielson's stats lines are remarkable similar. I find their games very similar. I like Danielson's physical North South speed game. I believe it fits right into the type of team the wings are shaping up to be. We aren't going to out skill teams. We might as well be as mean fast big and hard to beat as possible.
Cozens was bigger and faster and 6 months younger....but sure. But regardless, no matter how much I like a dozen other options, chances are high that the wings are going to take someone I dont like. I know the people who were clamoring for skill last year were left feeling let down with Kasper, even though I was thrilled with him. I guess if we get another Kasper, it's not the end of the world. At this point, you have to put your faith in the braintrust, they have been hitting extremely well at the top of the draft, no reason to think that with all of these solid options that they will somehow blow it.

The police will be there quick.

Gary is on the ground, and a small child has been....taken.
A small child who can still grow...seriously, are people really going to make a Barzal mistake with Benson? It would be kinda funny to watch history repeat itself....

IMO his upside is playmaking winger a la clayton keller. Sure he will be a good player but think others there that are as good as benson but with diff. play styles/project as NHL centres etc

Yeah, my bad, wasnt thinking in terms of position, moreso the skill level and talent.

It’s not much, but Arizona also drafted Jan Moser out of the NL recently so I’d bet their scouts are pretty familiar with Reinbacher.

At 9? I’ve got Benson as the #7/8 guy in this draft. Outside of maaaaybe Yager or Dvorsky (who probably becomes a winger) there isn’t a center in Detroit’s range that I’d pick over Benson. This is provided my top choices are gone. (Leonard/Reinbacher)

And Clayton Keller was also a top 10 pick. It’s not so crazy to draft a guy with his profile so early.

Not sure where he will get picked, but would like if we pick Barkey

5'9" 154 lbs.... but ranked anywhere between 34 and 79.

Given Drapers propensity to pick "tough to play against" guys with the first 2nd round pick, you'll have to hope he's still there for one of the other 2nd round picks. Looks like he could be another Amadeus type pick though.

He doesn't skate nearly as well as you think that he does and is very distinguishable from Barzal in that regard. Technically it would be more accurate to say that he isn't as athletic. Given his size, that very much is an issue.

Hes a slightly better skating version of Perfetti (in terms of attributes at draft age), who I very much wanted in 2020. Perfetti is doing just fine so far in his career. I roll the dice for sure.

Pfffff.

You'll see.

I was on the Moore bandwagon but the more I read the more I think he's AA 2.0

I would consider him w our 2nd first though.

Moore and AA are very different players. Moore backchecks.

My problem with Moore is he sometimes skates with blinders on. As I keep saying, his best hockey came with Leonard on the wing and it was the only time I saw him able to sustain offensive pressure.

Because you want a third-line winger?
Big hot take here. Still thought it was crazy how Benson was able to take Savoie’s power play spot last year.

How is that the same situation?

Ah then problem solved. Get Leonard at 9 then pick up Moore at 17. bam. dynamic duo

Nah, this board just gets stiff over undersized wingers with average skating. This profile is a magnet for half of this board. The good news this year I guess is that these midgets are all pretty smart players.

Hudler was better than whatever prospect you're pining after!

:sarcasm: but actually serious.

Hudler did score twenty or more goals three times in his career. That is probably a realistic outcome for a 9th overall pick the more I think about it. Sadly, I don't see many Hudlers (the player not the coke head) in the NHL today.

I don't pine for prospects because I appreciate the most likely outcome for them. I am a big Leonard fan but I am not walking around thinking he is going to be an all-star or a first-line winger. The only prospects I pine for are all out of reach.
