We got some great early 2nd round picks, don't undervalue them. Usually some 1st round talent falls to the 2nd round (Wallinder for example). Could do some major damage
Axel Sandin Pellikka if he falls due to size
These swedes Ogee has brought up, Edstrom, Nilsson, and Dower Nilsson. Maybe a faller like Stenberg. Some interesting Finns I haven't seen enough of as well. Hameenaho and Halttunen.

What would you guys rather have the 13th/14th overall pick in this year's draft or an unprotected NYI 1st rounder in next year's draft? I know this year's class is strong but know nothing about next year's class.

It will take time to develop player, to me sooner is better

Wait...I'm ridiculously psyched about nabbing the Isle's post 12th pick; because that's just about the range of...Riley Heidt!

I got a bad feeling about him for some reason. I would much rather try to get Reinbacher or Dragicevic.

Felix Nilsson is a must, especially if NYI pick is closer to 20 than 12. I could see two forwards taken in the first if we use both picks and do not trade one.
Nilsson is the Lukas Reichel/Noah Ostlund of this draft. He’ll go around 13-20 I reckon. Just such a smart, smooth player.
Would be fine with him in round 2. There are guys I like better in round 1.

i think we can nab felix nilsson with a 2nd. im very skeptical about his play strength and his slightly above average skating combo. I doubt he be a center at the nhl level.

Im still very interested in felix unger sorum. He's got a low center of gravity which i think will help him handle the rigors of the nhl. and he has some of the most underrated puck skills in the draft.

I mean, Nilsson is very much still a kid. He’s what, 17? Of course strength is an issue now. But as he gets stronger and on a pro regimen he’ll be solid. Plus he’s a Rogle product. They’re replacing Frolunda as THE development team in Sweden.

As for him not being a center? I’d bet money on it. He’s just such a natural at that position and his smarts are top end of this draft. Nilsson is great defensively and when he has the puck he’s able to create for his linemates. There’s a lot of parallels between him and Will Smith this year.

There's no guarantee his frame can support putting on the weight/muscle. He reminds me of nyquist. very cerebral winger with decent skating ability and would get absolutely eaten alive down the middle. Felix nilsson looks very slender even for a 17 year old. I just would be very hesitant to use a first on him. i still like him as a second rounder.

if we want to keep mining the rogle talent mine 2024 simon zether looks like an absolute stud.

I mean, we could potentially walk out of the first with Dvorsky and Barlow, or Ritchie and Danielson, or Heidt and Fisker Molgaard, or Moore and Yager....how can you not be excited for this?? Plus, 3 early 2nds, package 2 and move back into the 1st to make it 3 1st rounders....reeeaaaally good chance to round out the prospect pool with this draft.

Obviously you draft BPA at any particular draft position... but give me some Cs and RDs and this draft is a homerun from a sheer prospect pool standpoint. We are loaded at the wings and LD, but if a guy like Sale falls to 12 (or heaven forbid Michkov) you still take him based off of talent level.

The two RD I have my eye on are ASP and Reinbacher... I don't think they are likely to fall out of the first round but we certainly have the picks to move back into the first and get one. That would let us double up on the high end forwards with our likely teens picks and still get one of the two best RD in the draft. Yes, please.

Trade down for more lottery picks, not a fan of a trade up strategy. Look at what Carolina has done, they are masters of the draft

The three second round picks could acquire some of the players mentioned:

Felix Nilsson wasn't on McKenzie's list 6 weeks ago; Fisker-Møgard was outside the top 80; Edstrom, according to Elite Prospects, is only on the Central Scouting list at 36 in Europe, which typically equates to 4th round. Another similar player in Anton Wahlberg, whose highest ranking is by Button at 53.

As tempting as it is to thinking about trading two 2nds to get another first, the depth this year makes any pick before 50 quite valuable.

As for right-shot D, a middle-round option is Kaden Hammell. My model has him near the top--last year the model identified Adam Engstrom, Jake Furlong, Tomas Hamara, and Frederic Brunet. All but Hamara are already out-performing their draft position.

I'm all for doubling up on forwards in round 1. I know the hole Hronek left, but one signing in free agency any year fixes that. Easier to sign a simple shut down RD (which will be what we want) instead of another Hronek.

If we double up on forwards we could have a legit scary forward lineup. Say we draft Barlow then Danielson, we now have two rock solid two way centers in the system in Danielson and Kasper who both have top 6 potential, and a potential 30 goal scorer in Barlow.
