WC: 2023 Czech Team

Lets call Jagr then. He is 51 but he would be our best player by this point.
Sadly this falls into the “it’s funny because it’s true” category.

Maybe I should join the team, too. I am about as old as Jagr. OK, so I may not be suitable in terms of actual skill, speed or hockey background. But that does not seem to matter this year. And if this is not enough to convince Kari, the coaches will love that I have watched tons of the Czech league and don’t think that those NHL stars are “all that”. Waiting for my invitation.

Frk not invited
Svozil played for a minute
Vejmelka is also not invited.lol
Sedlak hurt
Chlapik hurt
Hronek hurt
Voracek hurt
Chytil hurt
Smejkal hurt

Holy hell are we missing some firepower

Sedlak was playing beautifully too! Hope he gets healthy because we don't really have a Sedlak replacement.. best one would be Palat or Kampf.

I read that the only nations that closed their rosters so early were all lower tier ones. All the big boys have left spots.. we immediately locked it all in.lol

And the other one.

Funny how even a guy like Hasek is questioning it.lol It's almost like NO ONE does a 3 goalie rotation or brings a NHL starter and benches them. Completely unheard of and I'm still waiting for an example of a purposeful 3 goalie rotation... not one where there were injuries but where the coaches decided to play all 3 for 7 games in a 'masterplan'. I've never seen it.

I mean it's tied to Blesk, which is a tabloid, but in sports reporting tabloids often have better sources that more "serious" media, so
I really enjoyed both articles but wasn't sure it if was a pissed off fanboy like me or a real journalist.lol The Malek interview is absolutely perfect!

'3 goalie rotation for a short tournamnet is stupid'

'If they play him against slovenia and then bench him again he should go home. Such a disrespect to a top goalie'.

Yes, not having a clearly defined no.1 goalie is certainly odd. It's usually defined, and then they decide who plays the QF based on current performance during the tournament. I hope that Vejmelka gets to play some games so we can see whether his exclusion was valid.

This surprised me!

Haha yes!

I was never a massive Cervenka fan, but his passing has been exquisite this tournament.

Hopefully there is still hope.

I just really cant think of how that Chytil injury can be that bad, Its really weird anyone knows what exactly happened there? He looked fine after it at game, they said no teeth lost, and its in mouth, so nothing like arms, legs, back of whaterewer should really limit you in playing much.

I mean Cernoch has a broken jaw, that sound like 100x worse and he is playing. Of course I am not a doctor and dont know what exactly is Chytils problem. Just really courious of what can happen in your mouth that bad that you cant play. Maybe some gum injury, that can be pretty painful I dont know.

But boy do we have a bad luck this year lol.

To the list Czechboy posted about not invited and injured players I would very much like to add Pasta, Krejci, Palat, Rutta, Simek ... we basically have the whole "better" team at home lol ...

Ten years ago I was complaining he was being put on the team. Now he's one of my favs. I was dead wrong about him. Very happy to be wrong. Great leader and timely scoring and passing.

Isport is legit enough I think.
I don’t care if it belongs to Blesk. Isport gets it right very, very often and reports first. They have a lot of very good anonymous sources within the ice hockey establishment and the team, always did. Yes, it can be tabloid-like but the information often turns out yo be correct.

A 70 person reserve list in case Sedlak can't play... instead of an obvious one like Hyka or Horak. I wonder if a second call to a few available NHLer's isn't in order? Now it's only about a 10 day tournament. Eg. I didn't think Fiala was coming and now he's here. I didnt think Seider was coming and now he is here. Drai might still be coming.

Maybe worth calling a few ringers and seeing if 10 days is more manageable? Hertl, Vrana, Pasta, Krejci are all around.

Looking at AHL... good chance Radim Zohorna is available after tonight (so would Kral but we don't need a D).

FTR.. I want Sedlak to stay and be healthy and playing. Really enjoying his game.

Step 1: Shoot Jordán and Hrubec right into the Sun, if it is technologically possible, call NASA or Elon
Step 2: Apologize to Vrána and Svozil and bring them back
Step 3. bring also Galvas and young Dvořák, but apparently Kari does not like Ds who can actually skate and keep up with nations like Latvia

Damn shame Norway could not take at least point from Latvia ... that 6 on 4 at the end really called for it ...

Hopefully Swiss wont crumble and beat Latvia or Slovaks for three points tommorow.

He's ready! He's literally training right now, has a contract and all his teeth! C'mon Kari! If Sedlak can't go, this is your guy! The one in the NHL jersey.lol

Jesus. You are all buck passing. This is like debate “Robert Kron should play in Nagano.” Literally most boring thing is to follow team where coach has to bring every possible better player “based on stats” to “prove” himself. We wouldn’t win half of the medals with such attitude. Literally noone here watch any Galvas game. No one is really scouting AHL. Why would they do that? Definetely finnish coaches are not like that. They can win medals with euro squads…

It is ridiculous to compare Finnish coaches of Finnish teams with a Finnish coach having the Czech and not Finnish team at their disposal. And Vejmelka is better than Hrubec on every level, there is no excuse for him playing (or for Jordan playing). Also, it is always a terrible idea to compare Nagano with anything. Yes, we had a lot of Europe-based players and left some NHL players at home, a d it was a good decision. But we also had the NHL’s Hasek and Jagr. You think we win Nagano without Hasek? You need that bit of extra individual quality. Right now, we have very little of that.

Sure, winger is needed. We dont have centers, but sure, bring winger, he is from NHL, its a winger. But elite NHL winger can be obviously average WHC center. He never played it, but whatever….
Well I dont know if you even read what I wrote or what are you trying to pull here.

1. Do you know that Vrana only played like 25games this year? So saying he was only 14th among czech players in NHL stats is completely ridiculous lol. If he played the whole season he would be in the top 5 easily. You just dont leave a player like that at home.

2.Yes we have around 20regular players in NHL, but only 3 are currently still in PO. Other 17or so were available. And of that 17 we managed to score only 3 for the WCH. Doesnt matter what the reasons for others not to come were, if it was injury, personal reasons or we didnt want them (Vrana). They were available, they could have played for NT, but they are not. So my statement still stands. This team we have is nowhere near the strength we could have had, if we didnt had such a bad luck on injuries and maybe Havlat´s convincing skills were better.

3.I am not saying Galvas and Svozil would be a game changer, but it would definitelly be an inprovement to that pathetic D we have now at the tournament. They are both the type of players we desperately need and absolutely lack this year. Offensive, skilled with the puck, good in transition and not afraid to support the attack. Basically none of our D is capable of that right now. They are all slow, passive and lot of them cant even keep up with the speed of the game at the tournament. Svozil and Galvas would be better and I stand by it.
this is joke. So its Havlat’s fault that those 20 mighty saviours of czech hockey didn’t come again to give medal to poor czech people? Canada has D team, USA god knows, swedes didnt really want to pay insurence for some of the players and we have to desperately rely upon 15 guys. J

With Vejmelka for sure, this is Jalonen’s responsibility. But the rest? Literally no one here is pointing on Zboril turnover against Latvia. Jordan? And whats wrong with him? Sure, you need extra individual quality. But its not Jalonen’s fault, that this quality is non existent in CZ or its just related to same 15 NHLers who would have to come every year. Team should perform better against teams like Latvia, even with euros. This is Jalonen’s responsibility. But devlopment of players is no his responsibility.

Sorry, I was overreacting, no offence to anybody. It wasnt really my intention to answer like that. I just disagree with way how many of you suggest what Jalonen should do. In my opinion he picked +- best team possible. If it points out on others, especially those who are are responsible for development, I would be more than happy.Because, especially in regards to D, I have been listening this story about necessity to develope D for like 13 years now. And I think it says a lot, when Jalonen, after these 13 years, built D with Kundratek, Jordan etc. But as I said, I dont think its Jalonen fault.

Everything you wrote is completely ridiculous. And thats all I am gonna say and not responding to you anymore.

You should have a balls to respond. Especially because you started answering me probably thinking that I misteriously missed 20NHLers when I mentioned “this the best we have”. I didnt even talk you…
